I met Tech and Krizz in Kuwait after my tour in Iraq and it meant the world to me. My mother died 3 weeks before we deployed and I honestly didn't know if I had the willpower to make it home. I got to meet my favorite and most idolized rapper and shake his hand after seeing some of my favorite songs live. As a veteran, this brought tears to my eye's and had me choked up. Tech you've been my favorite rapper for a long time, but it seems like every time I turn around I'm reading something new about you that raises my admiration and respect for you as a person. And the same goes out to many other artists on the label. It seems like you not only look for the best talent but character means something. Not necessarily past but the desire to always be rising. So much respect for what you and your crew have done. May you always find success and prosperity.

yeah, that's really what being a soldier is all about. unfortunately, most don't realize that until AFTER the paperwork is signed because the recruiters make it sound like nothing more than a few years of care free fun, afterwords being set for life. the recruiters that came to my school literally told us all they do is drink and play with guns all day to try and convince all the burn outs to sign up. I got kicked out of the presentation for calling them out on their lies and telling everyone that they make it seem glamorous to convince you to sign up under the "promise" that you and your family will always be taken care of medically and financially, but the moment you're incapable of active duty, they discharge you and put you on a ten year waiting list for your benefits, hoping you die or commit suicide before you can collect a penny. about the only benefit is as long as your discharge was honorable, employers will usually hire you over someone who is more qualified for the job than you are...

Recruiters do exactly what is in their job description: recruit. The things that are told to you leading up to your actual signing up are a mix of malarkey and truth. The best course of action before getting into _anything_ is to research it thoroughly, so you don't regret your decision(s).
When you do finally sign, you do, in fact, do what you are told. Your basic responsibilities are to follow lawful orders. That said, if you signed up during a time of war (like I did), you should know what you're getting into.
+Chris Wiley, I know the VA sucks dick (like, a lot of dick), but if you are medically _retired_ (i.e., your condition stems from something that occurred during your service), you get the benefits of someone who is retired. If you wash out of BCT and are found generally inept for duty, then they (rightfully) don't pay you a thing, especially if it's something that could have been disclosed at MEPS.

After 3 tours, 10 years ago, I still feel lost but ive always had and played music. I don't listen to music as influence, that's not the reason for it. its creative art. We talked to him for awhile (my two best friends and myself) he was awesome. Got his autograph on a few things. One of the best days of my life. This was in 2003.
