Cowboy, I hope you know the impact you have. My family laughed at me because I’m 50 and HZD was the first game I’ve ever played. I struggled on easy. I bought a PS4 to get me through the pandemic. I started watching you to get me through Sekiro. I killed every damn boss and mini boss thanks to you teaching me to get good. My PS5 came on Monday (a Valentine’s gift from my husband. They don’t laugh anymore). You make a difference. You help make life fun. Thanks for what you do :)
Gaming has evolved as a medium of artistic expression and entertainment. The fact that it's still looked down on by many when it offers such an enjoyable way to experience amazingly well crafted stories boggles my understanding still.
June, reading this was one of the best things I’ve ever read in a comment thread. I’m so happy you found the joy of gaming. HZD has one of the best stories I’ve ever played, and I’ve been gaming for over 30 years (started when I was 6. I’m almost 40). The Last of Us has one of the best stories as well. If you ever get a chance, get yourself one of those mini super Nintendo’s and play Super Metroid. This was the first game that had a story that impacted me. The ending actually hurt me haha. It’s your basic 2D scroller, but solid. The mass effect trilogy remaster just came out; that whole saga was masterfully done. Rich story and character development. This was the only game that literally hurt my heart when I accidentally got one of my crew members killed because you actually spend time learning about them and gaining their trust and loyalty through story driven side missions that are optional. I hope you find joy and love in these games as I have. I’d love to have the honor of being added as a friend. My PSN is IMAharlot. Happy gaming :)
Best option in there. Turned it on at the beginning of the game so happy I did. The mechanic of scanning for hand holds is the only dumb design I've seen so far in this amazing game.
Great stuff. "Things I wish I'd known" is definitely my favorite level of detail for a guide. So often I get hung up on stuff like "wasted" skill points that I end up just starting the whole thing over a couple times. Thanks, also, for the secondary spoiler warning for the bits that are a little further in.
You are legit my favorite go-to content creator when it comes to build-based games. Your in depth analysis and recommendations never steer me wrong and only enhance my experiences. THANK YOU
For the valuables section of selling, do *not* sell processed blocks. Those can prove to be invaluable for buying certain upgrade parts at contract sites. Those and epic rarity apex hearts (they too are used for some upgrades) which can be a pain to get sometimes. Trust me, I made this mistake a but early. If anything, hoard Those until you feel you've upgraded the right gear you want to with them
Just starting the game and your advice is something that is highly appreciated ❤️ I always get nervous to sell something I would need later so that was a great heads up!
Hi cowboy big fan of your channel. Im in england, uk. Got this badboy preordered and the hype is real. Also elden ring aswell. Like i said big fan, love your work. All the best.
I preordered this game for PS5 and im not having a PS5. Your Channel is the best on YT for walktrouhgs. I love to listen to your explanations. Your a great creator. Bcz of you i finally started dark souls. Keep your great work.
Btw instead of buying fast travel packs, you can craft them with the animals you hunt. Saves a lot of money and you'll have a lot of animal meat from getting pouch upgrades
The point of using the triple knock for elemental arrows is to already have them preloaded so you get an extra head start on causing an elemental effect. And sustained burst is amazing for that same purpose, causing an elemental status VERY fast with elemental bolts.
I like to watch these videos that everybody has of beginner tips and stuff like that even though I have played the 1st one I feel like I'm walking into this game for the 1st time and not played the 1st 1 Meaning. Thank you for the tips It is most appreciated

Long time no see man. i’ve tried to stay away from any type of guide videos for this game but I couldn’t help but watch this one seeing it all it was done by that dude fighting cowboy 👍. which means it’s going to be good.
I started listening to this video on auto play while preparing dinner....and I thought Wow,this guy is really good so I went to subscribe and saw over a million followers...lol ...seems I'm not alone 🤣
just bought the game last week and this video was very helpful to understand the overall setup; otherwise I would have wasted lot of my time...thank you
Hey Cowboy. Thanks for the guide! I find Aloy to be kind of clumsy in this game. I was fighting a T-Jaw and she seemed to be very slow when starting to run and seems to stumble on things a lot. So now I just cheese it from the top of some rocks. I'm just starting to get blue weapons so I know that I'm early on in the game. I have been using those jobs for stuff but I'll need to go further in the game areas to get them. I like to take my time with games like this. Hunting and farming up parts. Too bad they took away the Terablast arrows but in a game where breaking off parts before the kill is more important, I guess it makes sense. I still need to dig through the menus to try and turn off that annoying message that keeps popping up on the right side of the screen. Tips, I guess. I don't even read them anymore. lol I wish that I had this on a PS5. I'm playing on a launch PS4. I notice delays of things showing up when I open the map and stuff. Someday, I'll get that PS5. Or will it be the PSFive version by then. LUL
I wasn't gonna look into any videos about stuff for the game but I know you're a good enough guy that you wouldn't spoil stuff for people and you always give warnings for that stuff before they happen which I immensely appreciate. These tips are really good for everybody and stuff is explained so it's easy to understand. I'd honestly recommend this to anybody that's starting off the game. Now it's time for me to head into the part I'm in and put this knowledge to some good use
As much as I like this game, the skill system and the weapons and upgrades really frustrate me. I kind of always feel like maybe I don’t know what I’m doing.
The best money maker in this game is actually hunting animals. Valuables give you very little money. But if you take like 30min just hunting random animals you will have thousands real fast. Especially early on you will see those hogs running around everywhere. Animals have different body parts and some body parts give you more money, like animal bones. So for animals, turn on your detective mode and tag the animals you see nearby and kill them. If you only take like 30min to just hunt animals you will have a lot of money to not worry for hours. Whenever I start to run out of money I got hunting to some decent spot where a lot of animals spawn and just go on a killing spree. Sell all the animal parts and I get thousands and I don't have to worry about money for a long while.
Just finished my 5 hour trail and will deffo be buying the full game when I get paid. I've literally just finished another playthrough of Zero Dawn so all the changes were a bit jarring, I feel much more confident with it all now.
You must play zero dawn. It’s so good and I’m sure it’ll probably have a ton of exposition that you’ll need to fully understand and enjoy forbidden west.
@@rekkagaming4086 yeah, that what I would do if I bought forbidden west, but I’m still not sure if I’m not gonna get bored like with the first one. The games don’t look different enough from each other
I need help! I am a new gamer, and about 13 minutes in the game at the work table, I was able to complete a caster. She is supposed to aim and throw the caster and pull away the rocks. I hold down L2 and touch triangle for am and shoot. My problem is I hold R2 as instructed but can't activate her to pull. Hopefully, I am explaining this for understanding. I'm stuck!
Wow. FightinCowboy. Thanks for Bloodborne videos. Would have given up on that game right at the beginning, if it was not for your videos. Quick question if you are answering. What is the best way to kill fish? I keep shooting at them in the water with arrows and they don’t die. I use more arrows to kill one fish than I use to kill a Thunderjaw.
I gotta say, I played a ton of this game and at no point did I buy berries from a vendor. There are so many berries laying around in the wild I would grab a few every time I’d see a cluster. Come endgame I had over 1500 berries in my storage. So….don’t buy berries!!

If you get tired of constantly using focus to find climbing hand holds, there's an option in settings to have them permanently highlighted.

Finally starting HFW after 100hrs in Elden Ring and this was the best breakdown for starting out I’ve found! Thanks Cowboy!
Just about to do the same
Maybe I missed him mentioning it but you can also craft fast travel packs by holding down on the dpad and it's a few shards and 2 meat.
There’s a dye merchant in plainsong as well. just to mention you can craft fast travel packs with sticks and meat which is better than buying them
3:48 - I believe there’s also a dyer in Plainsong.
You can find a dyer in Plainsong, pretty early in the game (around lvl 12-15).

Why was your Focus blinking Red & causing a Red hue around you there in Barren Light?
