wow an actual conversation on cb! haven't herd that in years must have been in 2am in the morning because there's no way you can talk on channel 37 with someone for more than 5 seconds normally because of the idiot factor.
I agree with idiot factor, especially the foul mouth idiots. I truly believe 99% of all radio operators get really tired of hearing the "F bombs" and the "GD" every other word transmitted. Shows to me those people are total low life's. Radio operators really need to speak up and confront those people doing that.

Did you get your box fixed? If not it appears the part that let the smoke out is the output mica capacitor if you can still read the part it will have a pF rating and if you can find one and replace it, it may come back to life, if it does a metal clad capacitor of the same value is much more robust but spendy for a capacitor.
That's because with Lee's amplification it doesn't pick up the sounds bouncing of the wall if you want to stop that decorate the shack with photos and other sound deadening items. I had that issue years ago when I lived in plymouth I put artistic rugs and stuff on my walls so my d104 wouldn't pick up stuff

She's quite the operator I have made her contact several times but like the rest of UK move around and rarely use 38 one one one one one one one stays primarily on 38 irritating the freq though lately oit has not.been on as reg like someone found him I think he in Nevada cause loudest when Nevada running

Use 425 or 415 the " coffee can crew" gets in daily and Kate joins them there is a standing group of about 30 including few in USA Find " cb ghost talk" u thune channel new York 202 has that one and his cousin in London the 444 both produce programs and getting more into u toob than radio
Hey John you could invest in an antenna switch I had a maco 3 way for years one antenna at time now found dosy makes SW4 vert ,horizontal,aux, and combined vertical/horizontal same time. Reminds me of the old pdl2 switch It work good I use it with a ant 99 and a sirio 1\2 wave dipole on two different masts!! Each ant holds 1.1+ combined 1.3+ and no co phasing of cables!! Once in use dx doesn't drop out as one fades the other increases
Didn’t realize Kate had a UA-cam channel, will look her up, I really loved CB in the day, when I drove a truck years ago I had several nice rigs, talked all over on LSB as well as AM, got into ham as well, last QSO was on digital, still have the icom digital HT, still my favorite radio I had was my browning mark 4 in the late 70’s with a Maco M103

My TRC -459 has the best receive going its old school from around 1987 but it really pulls in the contacts/skip
