I loved Aaron Small that season. The Yankees were dead in the water but Cashman got Small and Shawn Chacon from out of nowhere and they saved the season and got them to the playoffs. One note on the following season, he got a million dollar contract for it. He comes back for old timers day too.
Thanks for the video on a mostly forgotten pitcher and his out-of-nowhere season. I have to admit, I thought he had a chance to be a solid big league swingman after 1997, but it just never happened. I was happy when my Braves picked him up in 2001, thinking maybe Leo Mazzone could turn him around, but after his disastrous 2002 season in AAA I pretty much gave up on him. When he resurfaced in 2005 it was fun to watch and I couldn't have been happier for him. It might have been a short lived major league success, but for that one half-season he showed he could play with the best players on the planet.
He is still teaching kids the fundamentals of pitching and does a great job….. Great guy and glad he finally had his success!!

I remember this well and his 10 wins for the Yankees. I sure could not have told you what year it was though.

I remember Aaron Small got a couple of his baseball cards
2005 was a weird year for the Yankees. Chacon and Small came out of nowhere
