In April 2017 I left Australia for a solo trip around the world on a BMW F800GS. I named it “Are We There Yet” because I don't know my final destination or the duration of this journey.

Thanks for showing that SF isn't totally destroyed. My mom lived there for 10yrs but not me I was in Seattle then Europe but for my entire life it was the gem of the West Coast in my mind.She was home to West Coast Jazz, poets and novelists, the Hippies the Acid expansion and the Diggers free/ quarter meal etcetera.
I was there in 1966 the town looks the same, but the people changed

Really hope you get to see some of the better sights in SF. Having worked in the tenderloin, I can honestly say that her "worst" bits are actually her Best bits. The energy I get walking through the streets at three in the morning in a light rain is fantastic!

Wish you could have stayed at the Green Tortoise Hostel. It is the coolest and cheapest place to stay in San Fransisco. Travelers from all over the world and social status stay there. It was my home base for the week I was there. Walking distance from a bookstore made famous by the Beat Writers and Lawrence Ferlinghetti. City Lights Booksellers and Publishers. 261 Columbus Ave. in Chinatown.

I was there in 2003 and did much of what you did , sadly not on a m/cycle , but at least in a hire mustang convertible - I really loved SF in those days, though I hear it it changed for the worse.
