Instead of slitting your blankets for ponchos, look up how to make a blanket into a wool hooded cloak without damaging the blanket. Often fastened with large pins (safety or medieval/viking brooch pins) at the shoulder, you can use a small smooth rock to put behind the wrap layers to create a bump that short paracord is wrapped behind, the cord won't slip off because of the bulb created by the rock.

My sleep system for the last 5 years: utopia polar fleece blanket, the Mexican woven blanket, and an Artucus wool blanket. All layered appropriately to the current temperature.

Like you, I have one of each. Dad & Mom brought me the falsa from Mexico, wool blanket from Woolrich, and the liner from a surplus store. Love 'em all.

EKTOS makes quality 100% wool blankets. I bought 2 "twin sized" blanets for $50 each. I genuinely love them and they went straight on my bed. They are a little thin, but they are woven tightly, so they take a bit to break in and floof up. Once they break in, they are nice and toasty.
I plan to get more for my vehicle and emergency bags.
(Im not sponsored, i just really like their blankets.)

There's a reason they're cheap; the reason is that they're recycled, 70% wool and the quality controls are hit or miss. They're decent enough for a cheap junk blanket you leave in the trunk or something, but they're not quality wool blankets by any stretch of the imagination.

That's an epic ginger beard you've got there.
I'm gonna go out on a limb here and guess you've either got Irish, Scottish, or Scots-Irish (aka Ulster Scots) ancestry.
Those three blankets can make for a great modular sleep system when combined, letting to modulate what temperatures you can survive down to.

I keep a harbor freight wool moving blanket which I think is about 70% wool and an camo quilted moving blanket plus a camo tarp in my SUV for both emergency and moving items. Plus have a throw blanket in there. I need to put my ghb with cordage and other essentials in my SUV too.
I've had one of those Mexican blankets for years in my yoga gear. They are nice blankets.

Yep, I can't argue with these three choices. I'd choose the same and actually have. I have all three and use all three extensively.
One of my wool blanhets I use outdoors is actually a Uhaul moving blanket. It's thick, fluffy, and very warm. The best part is that they're cheap as heck.

I was confused. You showed 3 options, but the option that fit in the shirt sleeve didn't look like either 3.
I have found some inexpensive wool blankets. A standard double bed blanket folded double long ways works for me. I use a cot and sleeping bag, and the blanket is a great warmth enhancer. I had an idea. I have a queen size virgin wool blanket. I want to make a cotton cover, sew it in, the queen size doubled up. I think it'll be great. If I were to get wet, I'd cut it out of the cotton.
There is a warm blanket type, made from plastic bottles. Fleece? I tried it at a friend's house, pretty good.

Good comparison of stay warm options and uses. 100 percent wool is my favorite but a 70 percent makes a good backup / addon for colder conditions. Both are heavy but sleep warm. Never owned a woobie but if I find one will buy . You know a good source ? Thanks for the review.

I bought my woobie online years ago from a surplus store out of Oklahoma. But I recently just ordered my buddy one off of Amazon and he's happy with it so far. I'd just check reviews before you buy. Thank for the support!

On the off topic why is wool and leather even expensive ?
Wool grows back and leather is harvested every time a cow is killed which happens all the time since meat is supplied to the consumers every single day.

There is NOTHING more over-rated or over-hyped than the “woobie”, a word I never heard until UA-cam a few years ago. Yeah, I’m an old fart. We called it a poncho liner. It is a very thin and not dense piece of polyester batting insulation. ANY fleece blanket will provide more insulation. Having said that, yes I still have mine and it still has a place.

Why in the heck are you people calling a Poncho Liner a Woobie? It has never been called a woobie until those of you who couldn't spit shine boots and had to get berets just to perk up your morale instead of earing berets. It is a damn Poncho Liner, get it through your damn skulls.
