Japanese jujutsu is in my oppinion one of the best fighting discipline one can learn. Staying calm while being alert, without fear is the real test. The battle is won and lost in your mind. Be dangerous without having to fight.
The best fighting style is the one that works, ninjitsu isn't defined as a fighting style but as a discipline to philosophy of action in the shadow of life.

Ninjutsu was my favorite style to watch as a kid growing up. And I'll never forget this line, "forgiveness is divine, but never pay full price for a late pizza." Awesome vid!

My sensei would always tell me, go back to basics that everything is based on basics. These are very good quotes and makes me wish I would have stuck with it to 5th dan and above.

You are not fighting one opponent - you are fighting the unknown.
The spirit of the ninja is an art in which you must show nothing, allow nothing to be heard and nothing to be seen.
You are calm, but alert.
Relaxed, but ready.
Smooth, but sharp.
Humble, but confident.
Forget your sadness, anger, grudges and hatred. Let them pass like smoke caught in a breeze.
Do not indulge yourself in such feelings.
Your enemy will have unnatural movement, therefore you will be able to know what he is going to do before he does it.

Being a ninja is almost never fighting. To be a ninja is to have a ninja mind, to have ninja qualities, behavior, attitude, way of reasoning. Ninjas weren't even great fighters, as the movies show. This is the biggest misconception. In antiquity they were spies and their mission was to obtain information and go unnoticed (ie, avoid fights). The ninja is a strategist. When everyone looks to one side, the ninja looks at all the options and plans his mission to be a success so that no one can predict his steps. To be a ninja is to be the surprise effect. The unexpected. The unpredictable.

The word "ninja" did not exist in Japanese dialects until within the past 100 years. The original ninja trainings were books of certain strategy that various SAMURAI clans would study and employ. The term "ninja" comes from an older word; shinobe no mono. Japan didnt put any serious academic study into actual ninja history until 2013. I have a high respect for the samurai culture and therefore, the ninja. They are cut from the same clothe.
