We had the honor and pleasure of seeing Ladysmith Black Mambazo on February 16th in Healdsburg CA just a few days after the death of Joseph Shabalala. The spirit and beauty in their voices was miraculous. I was changed by their performance. Truly the most inspiring, perfection of men in majestic harmonies and movement. I will never forget their love and admiration for their father and founder of Ladysmith Black Mambazo. My Joseph Shabalala always rest in peace and praise.
The last dirge they are singing in this video clip, from the 17th minute onwards in the Xhosa language, is very nostalgic and traditionally magnetic in a sense of the word and African spirit.
Man, one of the most distinctive and smoothest voices ever. Thanks to his having shared his talent with the world. His son sounds astoundingly close to him. I love that the gathered participated and enjoyed the music he and the rest of the group brought to the world.
