Mostly agreed. Situations where I go back to HE are hard targets (Atlântico), long range against BBs, although that's often not the best case anyway, permafire chances and DDs. Given that a lot of people seem to not be aware that you can change ammo types, I can see why these ships might struggle, similar to RM BBs going SAP-only
The second game was just epic. You just don't want to rush in against a British BB and ignoring her thinking she is just a paper tiger. The British AP actually punishes really hard if using it right. I once got an 8 citadel game in Monarch that I regretted not saving a screenshot. The other time I taught two pushing Izumi some lesson with my Lion (yes you read it right, Lion) by sinking them almost singled handedly (with some help of friendly Essex), hitting 4 citadels, farming 110k dmg out from them, within 3 minutes. Yet I agree that the higher tier of British BBs still needed some buff. For now Monarch is the pinnacle of that line. Lion is kind of underwhelming and Conqueror could barely be fun.
The best game I had in the Monarch was a 70K game. I play my RN BB's with HE first, and as they get closer, then that is when I would switch to AP. The AP struggles at long ranges (if you hit something). The dispersion in my opinion is not meh, it's trash lol. It is kinda like Gneisenau dispersion. Armor is trash, but it's the way of the British BB.
I classify them as battlecruisers, actually, at least playstyle-wise. They can shine in fluid gameplay, and the AP works well at close to midrange. Keen to see what the 419mm can do at T9.

From what I heard Lion isn't good. Maybe it's because of the armor, but the bigger caliber guns are maybe good. I am curious.
Well said mate, ‘boost the things that she’s good at’ so many do not. I really enjoy this ship. Quality AP & HE. AP performs better than you’d think, it’s very bizarre. KGV class ships had good armour, they was up-armoured, likewise with the Nelson & Rodney, so it’s very strange why they’ve been handicapped so.
Well, at the end of the day, they're game characteristics. German BBs are super tanky (even though e.g. Bismarck's armour layout was rather conservative at the time). USN BBs fire rapidly. French BBs are squishy & fast. British BBs are squishy & have great HE shells. AP used to be preloaded on them, but that's been changed a while back. The HE is good, but overlooking the AP, especially in closer quarters, costs a lot of potential damage.
The KGV’s 14” guns got pens on Bismark which was armored against 15” specifically close in 15”. Despite what the wehraboos will say. I’m a German BB fan myself… but they were defeated and sunk not scuttled. Even if the Bismarks crew completed the scuttling process it was because they were going down anyway.

Prince of Wales guns penetrated the Bismarck’s bow mate in the initial engagement, in the Denmark strait. This causing the oil leak that gave the Bismarck’s position away on more than one occasion. She only broke off due to the problems with the (at that time) new gunnery sighting systems on the KGV class. Yes she was scuttled probably, however the damage to her by the RN was so intense that she was rendered useles & a floating ruin. Take a look at the extent of her damage from the visits to her wreck site, it’s unreal. That ship could take so much punishment. 💪🏻

I've got serov too , it feels like Japanese cv without fighters and if you choose alone targets without AA then you can get a decent damage in battle .
I figured that for regular CVs, coordinating strike wings is a bonus, for SU CVs it's a must, otherwise the plane losses just pile up. Still, if you're up against someone who can use fighters, expect to lose one wing on the way already.
I actually really like Monarch ...I have 175 battles wih her and 73 percent win rate , I enjoy the RR APCS in most situations. Can someone tell me what time to activate RR n Reload time so obt get annoying reading time add on .
The easiest way I've found (aside from doing the math, obviously) is to go into a training room, activate it at some mark, like 10s, and see how many seconds you have left when it times out. I usually add 1 or 2s for retargeting, so it also depends on how you play.
