    Gee, how big are the jars of peanut butter that you buy?
    Colour (color) coding the handles is a great way to be able to identify your tools in a busy workshop. You've got some cool ideas there Matthew. *Thank You* for sharing them. 👍

    You can also use tubing to repair broken eyeglass hinges. The arms will be stiff and won’t fold in any longer, but the repair is strong due to the shrunken tubing.

    Creative to be sure.
    Unfortunately, without access to a "by the pound" source, I find the price of such tubing to severely limit my uses to much smaller projects.

      Yeah, I'd love to have the by-the-pound supplier too, haha!!

    Heat shrink tubing is quite expensive if you don't have ins with Boeing :(

    I love the aglet use -- wha are those tips called and did you put them on with a heat gun?

    • @matthetubecrowley
      @matthetubecrowley  3 роки тому

      Yes indeed, they're called "aglets." I have a Milwaukee brand heat gun, which is certainly powerful enough to cause heat shrink tubing to shrink.

    Paracord ends is what drove me to find this- how to use heat shrink tubing? Shock cord on boats is common, but never tried to use heat shrink tubing. Is investment in heat gun worthwhile?

    I bought some tubing from Amazon to repair my vacuum cleaner cord in two places. I will cut it lengthwise to get it around the cord. Will a hair dryer work to shrink it? My husband doesn't have a heat gun.

      @matthetubecrowley  3 роки тому

      Wow, good question! I honestly don't know. Can you cut off a tiny segment to test it with your hair dryer? BTW, if you cut tubing lengthwise it may not shrink down to a smaller tube size; the split you made will probably expand.

      @@matthetubecrowley Well, I'll just try it all out in a couple of days.
