Yeah never take it for granted that people will stop for you at painted crossings ..the thing I've noticed over the last few years is that a lot of the "new Australian" drivers will stop in the middle of traffic and wave you across when they shouldn't and not stop where they should .I know they mean to be courtious but they can cause all sorts of problems in the process. I walk a lot and see near accidents from this often . Driving instructors aren't teaching them properly
It also doesn’t help when the messaging is inconsistent with some controlled intersections only having a crossing over the main road and not the slip roads
