I just want to say that my favorite part of the show is at 7:25 on this recording. All of the band cuts off besides the Alto Sax 1 and Mellophone 1. There is about 8 people playing, besides percussion that is. They play as loud as almost the whole band. it is a 12 count sustain.
I wonder if any of these kids march with The Battalion D&BC. THe field performers all did a brilliant job.. But, as with DCI shows, if you require THAT MUCH SINGING and/or Voiceover to tel your story, your program has a massive flaw.
Okay boomer. Welcome to modern day marching band! Vocals are a thing. And if you look back at a lot of "older" DCI shows, there's a bunch of shows with vocalists. It's not a new thing. Every group has flaws. Even top 12 grand nats finalists. So what? This show is still pristine. Don't discredit what these kids have done by giving them a backhanded compliment like that. The vocalist nailed it. And it fit the show really well. They told the story in their own way, and they did a fantastic job. Come on. Show some respect.

it doesn't matter how many people you have in your band, all that matters is that you make amazing music and have a hell of a good time doing it.(AF band member btw)
We only have around 200, and the only mics we used were 2 for clarinets, 1 for a flute, 1 for an alto, 1 for a tenor, and 1 for a bass clarinet, all the other mics we used were for the pit and soloists
I’m sorry, but if the top drum corps- almost all of the top 12- mic their band with boom mics, I think it is perfectly appropriate for high school groups to do so. Anything that makes the audience experience better. It’s the same reason we mic performers for musicals.

Yeah, we barely make 200.. The woodwinds were so quiet this past year it was so sad

They'd be a good band if they actually played. They barely play throughout the entire show and when they do it's average
