I just happened upon your channel and I have to say this is one of the BEST reviews/Vs that I have ever come across. It exudes honesty and impartiality and that's what makes it so credible. Concise yet detailed and matter of fact. SUBSCRIBED.
Thanks for the SUB. I try to give a full comparison when I do my reviews. Some channels compare products by the numbers, which is fine. That is one way to do it. I like to just put my products through real world tests to figure out the ins and outs.
Thank you for this excellent video review. You've help me decide which pocket hole jig to buy.
Glad I could help!
I just about purchased the kreg, until i saw the massca,,all aluminum build, and better stop and guide system,,it was a no brainer for me,,i can get by without the 3rd hole,,great vid review,,
Right on. There are good plusses and minuses for each.
Thanks, you did a real world consideration video.

With the Massca jig, if I want to put in 2 pocket holes at once without resetting the wood part, the narrowest width board would be 2” due to the distance between the two holes. I have to switch to my Kreg KPHJ320 to add 2 holes at once on a 1.5” wide board. Not uncommon for face frame boards to be 1.5” wide.
Do both have lifetime warranty? I understand the Massca does.
Good honest opinion/comparison of these tools - I'm so tired on "influencers" trying to push one tool over another due to "compensation considerations". For the tearout issues around the Massa pocket holes - did you try using the Kreg drill bit in the Massa jig? Trying to determine if the design of the bit, or the Massa jig design itself is causing the tearout.
First, thank you. I really try to be as straight forward as I can. Not everyone that watches believes that, though I think they may be jaded before they even watch my video. As far as your question, yes I did switch bits and got the same result. I mention that in the video, but I may not have been very clear. So, it is not a bit thing and the Massca does make a clean hole when you are going with the grain. And I think that is the way most of the holes will be drilled. 👍 So glad to help! @@AroundTheHome1 Does the kreg create as clean of holes with the grain as the massca does? I've had nearly perfect results so far on the walnut I've been drilling with the massca. I'm thrilled with my purchase so far, wish I would of watched the video beforehand though just because you deserve the affiliate link. Awesome breakdown and im just amazed that you seem to be the only one comparing them rather than pushing their product.
Personally I was torn between the two after a friend showed me his kreg system. I went with the massca because it just feels more like a buy it for life purchase than the kreg. Kreg looks way more convenient and possibly more accurate, but I just hate plastic crap so much. Seems like something I'll accidentally smash with an 8' 2x4 and then i'll need to buy a new one but instead opt to tape it up and deal with less accuracy. The Massca feels like something my grandfather would of had on his workbench since 1980. While the kreg is definitely quicker, it's still an under 20 second process to adjust it to how you want it. After seeing and testing both I definitely like the massca better even if the kreg feels more intuitive to start.
I note that you didn't lay the Kreg through 90 degrees allowing you to put pocket holes on larger panels that are laid flat. I'm leaning toward the Massca style, though with a solid tool steel guide block with no bushings, so will give a cleaner pocket hole than both of those units I hope.
Thanks for watching and your comment. These are both great tools, with lots of obvious differences. Even though I was surprised by the burring of the holes with the Massca it really only happened when I cut against the grain. Hopefully, whichever unit you pick will work out good for you.
@@AroundTheHome1 I am buying it today. I will let you know how I get on. it is £100 (GBP) So a comparable price I guess. If I get on with it, I can add a link if that is okay.
Sure, keep me posted and feel free to add your video link here.
Armor makes an aftermarket auto adjust that will fit the Massca.
Do you have a link for that?
Hi! I have a question regarding pop corn ceiling & DAP compound. Do you have an email I can ask for your advice how to repair? I used DAP compound to patch the hole on Popcorn ceiling, but it looks uneven. Wonder how to smooth it out or how to fix. If you can give me your email, I can send you the picture of it! Thank you!

The chamferring is a hit or miss manufacturing problem. The opening at the bottom is too large and sloppy for those with this problem. You can fill the hole in the bottom up with epoxy and drill it back out to get the same result as Kreg. You can also just spray the drill bit top with silicone aerosol and put it in backwards before filling in the space with epoxy. Leave the epoxy slightly proud so you can file it down flat later. This concept is no different than the sacrificial fence/bed for saws and routers.

Btw for those looking at these two - I had both and really wanted to like the massca m2; but ultimately stayed with the kreg 720.
In terms of the design the kreg wins in ease of use. Its actually pretty sturdy.
The reason I stayed with it is because the holes come out SO MUCH cleaner and the pocket hole screws drill in SO MUCH better as well.
The masca despite being metal just doesn’t perform its basic function well. Its a pain in the ass to use and leaves tear out cuts despite trying 3 different bits. Im telling you just stick with the kreg if you want clean holes and ease of use. If you want something you can throw at the wall and it will still work then yeah go with the masca you want some metal aluminum brick.
Way happier with my kreg 720.
Thanks for this input. I just built some drawers for one of my cabinets this last weekend and grabbed the Kreg 720. I did so because I am not a woodworker with a shop. The Kreg is much faster setting up for a new project and in my opinion better for the weekend DIY'er that does a little bit of everything. Now if you are the weekend DIY'er that really only does woodworking, then you might enjoy the M2 more.
720 appears to have the ergonomic advantage. When drilling 1,000’s of holes I think it’s best to chose what’s more ergonomic.
I think the quality of the end product should weigh heavily. By not producing a clean pocket hole i feel like the massca is not doing its basic function. No matter how well built it should do the core function well.
It is only when you go against the grain, but I understand what you are saying. That's why I tried to do such a lengthy comparison. Hopefully it helps everyone decide what features they think are more important. 👍 So glad to help! Thank you for watching. Check out hundreds more of our videos at www.aroundthehome.org

I hate the masca; tear out planet no matter how you adjust it. I hate it…
