One reason I trust not the analysis of a artist, is that they exchange the real and sometimes simple, for the mystical, which if followed leads to a kindly, but confused state of mind. G. Gould, for example, would have best said, that while you play the piano with your fingers, the uniqueness of your mind allows for the anomalous rendition of a work. It is the nature of the artist to be fanciful and by consequence artistic!
Bonjour Manon, c'est un plaisir de vous retrouver dans les commentaires ! Tout va bien pour nous et nous espérons que tu vas bien toi aussi. Passez un beau dimanche ! 🥰✨
He always expressed a sense of apprehension when having to play in his home town of Toronto. Having grown up there, he needn’t have, we loved his playing. 🫶🏻
Gould said in a documentary that playing in Toronto was more nerve wracking than anywhere else because when he was playing for “home folks” and I suppose he wanted to play his best, compared to NYC where he knew no one and couldn’t be bothered to worry. I understand that. But in the end, he hated the constant grind of concert tours an didn’t enjoy playing anywhere, so he quit!
I absolutely love Glenn Gould and I am so happy you put this out. He has this intrinsic connection to the music and I even enjoy his humming as it just fortifies that connection even further.

I wish I had said that. Maybe I will. An extraordinary work. An anodyne for our anxiety ridden times.. The kid's tempo is brisker than his later recording. Both are worth having.
The UA-cam description says "Live 1955". The famous Columbia recording of 1955 is a studio recording. Is this the same as the Columbia recording, or a live performance from the same year?

It is ironic that Glen *Gould* is playing the piano 🎹⏩▶️ of *Goldberg's* Variations of Bach -that's as good 👍 🌟 as gold 😂😂😅❤

Which year?
I have a CD with two different recordings. In one version if you listen carefully you can hear him humming along.
This is the 1955 recording 😁🎹
