In this video, I demonstrate how to create 4 unique portrait styles with using just one Nanlite FS-300 continuous light fitted with an Angler deep octobox and a few V flats. All of the gear I used in this video is linked below. Please note that at 03:40 the right photo should read "WHITE V-Flat."

@@PeteCocoPhoto nah, im just polite fan of Your hard work.
@@jakubstrumillo Appreciate you, Jakub!
This is perfect timing as I'm beginning to try to learn this stuff. Last week at work I borrowed a light from our school nurse. It was a ring light with a magnifying glass. I stretched a T-shirt over it as a diffuser. I played with it to shoot some Dr. Seuss week images. It was fun!! Question: I've often wondered why continuous light isn't used more often. I realize it's not always practical outside of the studio. But, just curious. Thanks for this video, have a great week.
Glad you enjoyed it, Charlie! Continuous light has gotten much better over the last few years and more still photographers are using it over flash. The drawbacks are the power output, which really only makes a difference outside when it's very bright and you need fill. People also talk about the quality difference in the light, but for me, the quality and "look" of continuous is great. Like everything, it also depends on the brand and type of light you are using. I'm using continuous light for 90% of my work nowadays.
For those who want to research this topic more:
*1A* Rembrandt Lighting
*1B* Rembrandt Lighting with a reflector
*2A* Paramount Lighting/Butterfly Lighting
*2B* Paramount Lighting/Butterfly Lighting with a reflector
*3* Backlight with a reflector
*4* Paramount Lighting/Butterfly Lighting
*Also*: One Setup can make use of multiple lighting techniques, since it all depends on where your subjects are turning their heads towards.
Thanks!
