His performance in the 1998 Olympics is the greatest goaltending performance of all time. Canada and Russia were complete dream teams stacked with Hall of Famers, and he allowed a total of 1 goal combined against them. He carried that good-but-not-great Czech team to the gold.
He did bail on the Wings in 2004. He came back to the team in the Fall of 2003 after taking 02-03 off which then forced the Wings to trade to try Cujo (they couldn't) and then sent him to Grand Rapids. Then after being injured and then back and then injured again, he just said "I'm done for the year." So the Wings had to go back to Cujo. I hated how the Wings treated Cujo but Hasek just totally messed with them that year.
Holland didn't want Hasek to go to Colorado since Roy recently retired, so that was a smart move. Wouldn't have been an issue had Cujo just played better. Ironically enough Legace was the best goalie that year.
I am Canadian, but I was sooooo HAPPY when Hasek and Czechs beat the cocky Roy and Canada in the 1998 Olympic semi-finals. Dominik Hasek is the best to ever do it.
The greatest goalie of all time. Idc he bested Patrick Roy in the Olympics and 2002. He won against Marty Brodeur one of the longest and craziest OT games. Thank god he had Mitch Korn to help him perfect his style. Every big moment he came through. He is the only reason Czech even became a place known in hockey. I'd take prime Dominik Hasek over anyone to win.
Didn’t know he was left exposed anybody could have claimed him, where was my Leafs goalie scout coaches 🤔Leafs had mediocre netminders only getting Belfour at end of career did have CuJo I suppose! Didn’t know he got booed so much by own fans that had to pump in cheers on a speaker 😮🤭 best performance he ever done was for Czechs in Olympics absolutely stole the Gold medal (but still baffles me why Gretzky didn’t take a penalty shot 🤔remarkable stats Hasek has got saying that if it’s G7 of the SC finals I’d still go for a prime Roy or Brodeur over a prime Hasek or Price 😏

toronto signed belfor ...detroit signed cujo it was a domino effect .
they didnt trade for cujo
Colorado would have signed Hasek after taking his year off. Holland was smart to try and block that since Hasek preferred Detroit.
@@Jim-yh5uj he traded kozlov for hasek before free agency so he had to make the first move
I wish Barnaby would elaborate on whay he did. Thats pretty scaving. Would be something to hear a few tales. Anyone ever hear any?
I read somewhere is held a reporter against the wall by the throat
Easily Top 3 of All Time. The best announcer for Hasek was Rick Generate.
Jeanneret* rest in peace to the best play by play announcer to ever do it.
The best to ever do it, i only wish my Sabres could have won him a cup first
Best ever
Imagine being the Panthers or Ducks and NOT picking Hasek for free?
At the time Hasek was not a standout goalie and no one could argue with the decision at that point.

Clearly you don't know nothing if you say: ,,He is the only reason Czech even became a place known in hockey".
