The greatest show to ever air on Nickelodeon. I love the sort of pseudo-anime style of animation here, it's both beautiful and makes for some hilarious moments. This show was my childhood, and I hope you love it too.
You will LOVE Avatar. This series is so well done: the events are carefully placed, the characters are amazingly well-developed, the humor is on point (being the origin of so many gags and memes) and let's not forget the amazing balance that exists between humor, drama, suspense and intensity. But I have to confess the best part of it are the characters. Some of them are amazing that would make anyone wish they were real... but others are actually terrifying.

This show is the reason why I had such a broad mindset towards spirituality. I learned about the chakras, different martial art styles, life lessons, grief, anger, forgiveness, love, compassion, hurt, fear, faith. I learned a lot through this show. uncle Iroh is a true legend.
OH, y'all have no idea what's in store for you. It starts off heartwarming, then by season 2 the stories get so in depth, the world building is epic, and by the time you get to season 3, EVERY single episode will hit you in the feels. When you get to the end of the very final episode, y'all gonna be wiping tears away.
So excited you are trying out ATLA, its absolutely one of the most tactfully and expertly written television shows of all time. Its one of the few "for animation" pieces of narrative that benefits from the animation aspects of the show, and the fact that the animation and style is beautifully influenced by the writing itself is such an inspiration. Every stage of the way, the creators of this show had the opportunity to allow excuses like "kid show" or "cartoon" hold them back, but they used their parameters to create something that's gritty and real while remaining beautiful. They managed to build a universe that is both whimsical, fun, and magical, despite being grounded in cyclical trauma, war mongering dictators, and blind tradition. Such a tremendous show, and I think you folks will fall in love more and more as the story continues.

If y'all are already loving Uncle Iroh, just wait until you get about halfway through and towards the end of the series. He's such a dope character with a ton of wisdom. His character was designed as a life lessons teacher for the audience as well as Prince Zuko
The animals of the Avatar world is one thing to admire, because most of them are hybrids. For example... the penguins are called otter penguins, because they are a mix of otter and penguin. You can see they have a more mammal look. But you'll see there are many other amazing animals. But of course my favorite will forever be Appa... and one another that will appear in a not very distance future.

Fellas about to discover an all-time hood classic. This is one of those series I can rewatch forever and not get bored. Characters are S-Tier, music bangs, the power system(bending) is cool as fk, the pacing is perfect, and the animation itself is gorgeous. Not to mention the Martial Arts infused elemental fighting is as cool and flashy as it gets
Love love love this. But by God, I hope you folks that get super excited DON'T SPOIL!!!! If it wasn't explicitly mentioned in the episode, keep your mouths shut!!!!! No background info, no "you missed this", etc. Let them figure it out by watching the show.
Just a note about the series, the first couple episodes are a bit more on the “kid friendly” side. After the first 2 though, the story takes off and starts slowly introducing more heavy and mature themes. Stick with it because this is one of the best stories put to screen.

They introduce genocide and show us the corpse of Aang's mentor/father figure in episode three. I wouldn't call it more kid friendly.
