Once in a while, a song comes along that insists on itself.
Cryptic, no?
What I mean is, while it's difficult to judge (for me, anyway) the objective QUALITY of your writing, there's a little bell that goes off in the back of your noggin when you've said precisely what you meant to say and the music feels like it was always there, in that precise form and they've just been waiting for you to find them and not fuck them up.
'A Story That You Tell' is one of those. It fell into my head with such force that I resisted it for a while. Looking for a fourth chord, waiting for a complication to the melody. But it wouldn't budge. Wouldn't change. It forced itself into the running order of this album like a bully in a mosh pit.
