Just for everyone's reference, the All-Around gold is Higher than the event Gold. Not everyone can get the all-around champion gold, it measures how consistent and dynamic you are in all the events. It's amazing that Caloy, at his age right now, were able to grab it already. Other events can improve and get higher skills along the way, he needs at least 5-6 more points to work on in order have a chance for a gold in Tokyo. But I'm quite sure Caloy can manage that over the years, he's still a teenager
As a former gymnast, I dont think he can make the gold for the all around event. He doesn't have enough difficulty in his other events. His execution is great, but he's lacking in difficulty. Floor is his best bet. Go caloy!

Huge huge kudos to the coach and great job Carlos... Not only does the coach teach him how to harness his skills and focus... he teaches Carlos humility and professionalism as well.
First, a Gymnastics grassroots program should be in place in the regions starting with provincial meet to Palarong Pambansa. We cannot depend only in Carlos as we are solely depending on one 19yo guy who has been sacrificing a lot to be a World and future Olympic champ. We need a roster of gymnasts for Team Philippines. Second, Carlos Yulo needs a gymnastics coaching team which includes Coach Kugimiya, his current PhysTherapist JP, and another assistant coach ( important because Coach Mune is also teaching in university so he cannot fully focus on Carlos), a Sports Psychologist ( he easily gets distracted needs to train mentally to keep focus), and a Sports Nutritionist. He also needs to increase the difficulty level of his skills and polish his execution. I am not expecting a lot in 2020 but maybe he can surprise us. But by 2024, I expect him to be at his peak pwera injury again. He should make sure to avoid injury as many gymnasts have been injured preventing them to compete at their best in Worlds and Olympics. Until 28 yo lang by then Carlos will have injuries ( sana wala but most probably marami na yan) and surgeries na sana wag mangyari. Keep it up Caloy! We are praying for you! 🇵🇭🙏

Talent, discipline, and mental fortitude is the key. Yulo is quite strong at floor & vault... the height when he's up in the air when coupled with a good landing is simply awesome, not so strong at pommel horse (we need to see more agility and scissor forms attacking the middle part of the apparatus), good at both bars & rings (form is sometimes wobbly, except the landing which is solid.) Sana paghusayan pa niya ang training para sa olympics dahil siya lang pambato natin.

Kugimiya can I suggest in the future to please invite a Japanese interpreter. As M. Kugimiya response I don’t understand as evidence of limitation in English. Coach Kugimiya was a great help & he needs a proper recognition. So to make him appreciate & understand a Japanese interpreter should be available.

I had a schoolmate in HS who competed in the SEA Games also in gymnastics, however she quit because she saw that there was totally NO SUPPORT from the government and the Philippine Sports Commission. Now that Caloy is starting to gain a name in Philippine gymnastics, I hope that there will be more support for this sport.

I saw a little disappointment to caloy when he said there are 5 Silver out of 7 Medals. Don't feel that way, One Bronze Medal is enough to show your spirit in fighting for your country. Talent, discipline, and mental fortitude is the key. Yulo is quite strong at floor & vault... the height when he's up in the air when coupled with a good landing is simply awesome, not so strong at pommel horse (we need to see more agility and scissor forms attacking the middle part of the apparatus), good at both bars & rings (form is sometimes wobbly, except the landing which is solid.) Sana paghusayan pa niya ang training para sa olympics dahil siya lang pambato natin.
Don’t forget about the coach..... he was the pushover for us to have it ....

Korina thank you for interviewing all of them. I noticed & I believed in order to get the most input/advise or response of coach M. Kugimiya can I suggest in the future to please invite a Japanese interpreter. As M. Kugimiya response I don’t understand as evidence of limitation in English. Coach Kugimiya was a great help & he needs a proper recognition. So to make him appreciate & understand a Japanese interpreter should be available.

I had a schoolmate in HS who competed in the SEA Games also in gymnastics, however she quit because she saw that there was totally NO SUPPORT from the government and the Philippine Sports Commission. Now that Caloy is starting to gain a name in Philippine gymnastics, I hope that there will be more support for this sport.
