Interesting how when no one wants to give Jack to the giant until someone close to them is killed by the giant. The witch is ready to give Jack to the giant after Rapunzel is killed and the baker agrees with her after his wife is killed.
You won't believe this either, but I've never seen Into the Woods! (only when Evan was in a junior version in middle school lol). So I really enjoyed this video & your analysis. From everything you've shared, I agree about Rapunzel's death's importance. I don't know how much I want to watch the Disney movie, but I know I want to watch the stage version for sure. Btw, your eye makeup is super prettyyy :D
Her death drives the entire plot of act two aside from Jack stealing from the Giant, killing him and then his wife comes back for revenge. Rapunzel has to die so that the Witch can fulfill the rest of her character arch! However, I am confused, because Rapunzel is the bakers sister, who has twins, but doesn’t know about any of this. I would be surprised, but- it’s part of the story that the Witch kept Rapunzel in a tower and nobody knew about where she was.
That’s true huh? What a reveal that the baker finds out he has a sister and nothing really comes from it. He even witnessed her passing. The story of the witch and Rapunzel does say that it was her father that stole vegetables for the pregnant mother and the witch took their child. It makes you realize in the song “no more questions” the baker is being more like his father especially since it’s him choosing to give his daughter away.

Exactly! They took out complicated situations that helps you understand why these characters choose the unthinkable!

Maybe Disney was planning a sequel 🤔
