Thanks everybody for watching. Who else is running a catch can and how is it working for you? 800 mile update video: ua-cam.com/video/8pdQNm7yQUw/v-deo.html
It looks great! 👍 I installed a catch can a few months back and it has actually caught a good amount of oil already. I also installed the EE breather on the valve cover. Not sure if there is any major difference vs the stock hose, but it looks cool lol.
Bro - I just inherited from my Uncle a 50th Anniversary Limited Edition Corvette. It has only 1,806 ORIGINAL MILES SHOWROOM CONDITION!!! I don't know much about Corvettes. I will need to obtain a degree now from Corvette University LOL !!
Haha there's not much too them. They certainly have their gremlins like any other car, but there's a lot of information on UA-cam and Corvette Forum if you ever run into any issues. Thanks for stopping in and good luck
Nice and easy on the 04s. Check my update video. I opened it up and the separator piece vibrated free, so I put Teflon tape on that so it wouldn't. Small tip. Maybe if you're not cammed it won't vibrate free lol, but just a little insurance.
Perfect timing on this video. I’ll be getting my ADD W1 catch can tomorrow for my 2001; although it’s a little different than yours, this video is still pretty helpful.
I didn't realize there were differences until I looked up the installation instructions and figured it would be beneficial to share with everybody. Good luck with the install and let me know how much you caught in my update video in a few months. Appreciate the support as always.
Great video buddy, I put a catch can on my vette as well, also have one on my daily driver (the Toyota Tacoma). They are especially important on Direct Injection vehicles. Definitely a good mod to do.
Mine is a 98 and I'll have to do a video o this also. Mine is a little different than what is described here. Good video. I like it. Good job, keep it up.
Hey Dave, Good vid, but you might want to think about an Elite Engineering filtered breather cap. It allows you to filter the "clean side" of the pcv system , which isn't really that clean. You also can cap your passenger side rocker cover pcv port with this mod.
I did consider the clean side, but their website indicates 90% of oil comes from where the catch can was installed and during WOT oil can come from the clean side as you mentioned. I'll see how this does and maybe I'll add the CSS next. Thanks for your comment and feedback.

Can't go wrong with it. These are known for oil blow by, so it can't hurt. The LS6 valley cover does a better job, but you'll still have some. I have an 800 mile update on how much it caught. Not a lot, but it's better than going into the intake.
@@YellowVette04 I had an issue 2 weekends ago and I wonder if the oil catch can will solve the problem. We'll see. I watched the update video. Going through your videos now. You may have a few comment from me. 😬
Great post, Dave! I also have a 2004 base and I have been curious how the catch can worked on an 04 as I knew the PCV was internal...I look forward to seeing how much oil you get.....I am sure it must keep or reduce oil collecting in the intake! Thanks again!

Thanks Dave. You know, there's always heat resistant paint for you to go yellow. Give it some thought. You'll definitely have a one-of-one setup then.😊
Easy compared to the work I just did this past week. Lol. I know there's debate on to how "necessary" this is, but having removed my intake, I can say I saw quite a bit of oil in there. I figure that's 50k miles of driving over 20 years, so it's worth while IMO.
That's exactly what I thought. I haven't pulled my manifold, but I know a bunch of people that say the same thing about all the oil. Stopping that could only be a good thing I would think.
I have the same catch can... I've recently discovered that catch cans Create pressure from the crankcase... You may want to look into a oil fill vent cap to prevent Any seal damage... AC DELCO has One for our cars... Check it out...
You must have watched Chris's video and he just put out an update about that earlier today. The catch can is not the issue. He plumbed his PCV system wrong and that's caused his issue. If the catch can was the problem, they wouldn't be making them.
@@YellowVette04 Thanks... That's a very good point... The LS VALVE covers have a vent hole each which go to the PCV valve.. These holes are smaller than a pencil.. If any hole clogs or the PCV valve fails.. You can blow a seal... A 15 dollar vent oil fill cap makes me sleep better at night...
Thanks man. Yesterday I had a bunch of guys tell me doing a catch can was the right move. I haven't removed my intake, but they said when they did, there's a lot of oil in there.
1. Nice Video - good work! 2. Were you having a major oil consumption issue - or just normal (too much) gm LS consumption? 3. It has only been a month but have you put some miles on and if so, how much oil has it gathered? Thanks Man!
Thanks man. Just normal consumption. I put about 300 miles on it and some of those were hard miles. I did check the other day and the can is lined with oil, but no real accumulation at the bottom yet. I'll give an update after I go to Carlisle in a few weeks.

Goes back on with no issue. I should have showed that at the end but forgot to. No difference in the way it drives so far, but it's only been 30 miles or so.
Dave, I noticed that the large hose connected to the water pump which goes underneath the Air Intake has suddenly collapsed ie. It's no longer round. This has happened since fitting the Catch Can. Has this happened to yours?
That's your upper radiator hose and doesn't have anything to do with the catch can. Sounds you have vacuum in the line which could be caused by low coolant level. When the car is cold, remove your coolant cap and put it back on. If it collapses again, you may have a bad cap and need to replace it or top off the coolant.
@@YellowVette04 Hi Dave, yes, stupid me, I realised I was talking nonsense. I had new Dexcool put in her today. The mechanic said it was fine but to check when cold. I did that some 4 hours ago and when I took the Rad cap I got a hissing ie release of air. The Surge tank is showing coolant just above the cold mark but not to the top! I'll check it again tomorrow morning and see what happens. I may order a new cap anyways. Am I looking at 15 or 18 psi? Thank you so much for getting back to me. No issue at all. Just trying to help and I'm not sure what the psi is, but it should be labeled on the existing cap. I would check in the morning and you might be good to go now. Doing the maintenance is exactly what caused the hose to collapse, but it's not an issue and you should be fine now.
