Well, since there are so many different cards to choose from in commander, it's actually not that difficult to get "duplicates". I got a mill commander deck, where there are about 10 or so cards that do pretty much the same (mill the opponent for a couple of cards and provide a creature to defend against potential attacks from the opponent). Same. I respect that milling is a valid and effective strategy but it's sooooo boring to play against and I cannot for the life of me guess how it could be entertaining to play. And I'm pretty sure that it's not even that strong/clever of a strategy, you could probably make a deck that utterly wrecks those milling decks, by building it so that it uses the graveyard as much as possible, cards that plays from the graveyard, or that bring cars back from it, or that give effects that are enhanced by having cards in your graveyard. Or maybe you could just make a 400 cards deck and watch them flounder as they realize that if they try milling they might end up reaching their last card first...
@@swordcrab3181 Is Traumatise relevant? You mill half the deck with it, so bye-bye to ~200 of your cards. But yeah... Pure mill is the most boring type of control. Graveyard decks aren't that much good against it either because they'll counter/exile your spells unless you get them to waste enough ressources to play them. Graveyards are public so they'll know what to counter and what not to counter. Elixir of life is probably the best counter to mill
As someone who likes playing mill and other weird win cons I can say that decks that revolves around sacrifice and graveyard (Basically any deck that runs similar to your standard Meren of clan nel toth deck) that uses the graveyard as a mulch box is horrifying to a mill player.
@@totem95 I'm not a very experienced player, so I don't know the in and out of countering and strategy, nor am I familliar with all the cards. I haven't even built a deck yet (I'm tinkering with it, but it's very much a WIP), and I only do okay at using the premade decks. What I do know is that when I get matched with someone who has a 160 card deck, or if they play the Persistent Petitioners I immediately lose any interest in the game. Because from there I can predict how it'll go from a mile away. From time to time I still try to see if I can aggro them before they have their counters and mill set up, but nowadays I usually just immediately concede the game. I don't mind losing, not even losing hard. I've ended games at -40 hp, sometimes even as I thought my victory to be assured. I have nothing against losing. Hell, I love to see an opponent snatching victory from the jaws of defeat. But being mill is not fun, and if the game is not fun why would I play?
Thomas Pettier you’ve obviously never heard of Ulamog the Ceaseless Hunger and Through the Breach. Through the Breach brings an Eldrazi into play from your deck and gives it haste. It gets exiled at the end of your turn but one turn is usually all you need. Ulamog is the worst Eldrazi to deal with in my opinion because when he attacks he sends the TOP 20 CARDS OF YOUR LIBRARY STRAIGHT TO EXILE. Not the graveyard EXILE you aren’t getting those back at least not most of them. Also this effect doesn’t kick in when he hits you or if he hits a creature just the very action of him attacking does this. I played a couple of vintage cubes a while back and there was a guy I fought both times that got this combo BOTH TIMES

You know, with the whole, “chance of getting the same hand as someone else is less than 1%” thing, it brings me back to Yugioh, and the Rebecca Fight in the anime. The whole point of it is Yugi and Rebecca had the same exact duel as their grandparents did 20 years before. What is the percent of that? Yugi had 60 cards in his Deck at this point, but you could say he has 40. Rebecca definitely has 40 cards. Watch the episode and have fun with THAT math.
What is the percent in a world where we don't have a Shadow Realm or mystical spirits guiding us? Tip during the game regardless of trading card game:
Using effects to discard or search for specific cards allow you to lower chance mid-game
"Or by my favorite method, *milling* them out"
No... Plz...
