  • My test ride of a Motobecane Le Champion CF from 2012 that I bought locally. My conclusion is that not only is Bikesdirect.com 100% legit, but the quality of their bikes is also excellent, with this frame coming out of the Kinesis factory in Taiwan, fitted with some of the best components available back then. I'll definitely give bikesdirect.com a serious consideration the next time I'm looking for a bike packed with value. Come to think of it, they would have totally taken off if their marketing was half as aggressive or good as Canyon Bike is.

I got a Gravity Swift 7 speed hybrid from bikesdirect a month ago and I love it! Was only $300 incl. tax. I put some money into it to make it more mountain bike because of the hills and rough roads in my area. My first adult-sized bike purchase. Yeah I had to recalibrate and relocate my brakes too. The calipers were either too far or too close but a few YT videos later and I got it nice and smooth. I would definitely recommend bikesdirect!

For the price, it is an excellent bike. I put aero wheels on one and upgraded the chain rings to 53/39 with a large cassette for hills. It was fast though you can see the round top tube, it is not designed to be aerodynamic or high-tech. But it is a good solid bike with proper training you can beat anyone on one.

Yes, it's a quite capable bike, the only thing I would upgrade would be brake calipers and wheels, now days decent rim carbon wheels are sub $500 which will transform this bike's performance even more.

@@TheGizmoGarage I did ride all carbon wheels but the braking performance is not always optimal (e.g. rain). So I went back to deep aluminum wheels with carbon fairing (heavier but aero and has the aluminum brake track which performs in a superior manner). But yes you can still get good deals on the all carbon wheels -- I would be sure to get good carbon-appropriate brake pads, expensive but stopping is so important as we all know.

When you buy from BD youre NOT paying for advertising, sponsorships, shop overhead, or free stuff to influencers. You're just paying for a bike. I'll never again pay extra so that pros and influencers can ride for free.
