- Just a little video introducing you all to my little grey fergie project. Fitting it with a diahatsu fourtrak engine and the Sherman step up gearbox making it ideal for run roads and brings an old tractor a new lease of life, with a much more modern engine.
Hope you find it interesting.
Thanks for watching! - Наука та технологія
Wow you really have put some time and effort into this project. Good luck finishing it - I think most here would enjoy watching the progress til it's completed.
Oliver. Watching you restore and enhance the old Fergie would be great content.
Remember, we watched you repair a sheep feeder. 🐑 🇬🇧👍🏻😁
Back in the 1950's my father had two T20's (petrol/TVO) on the family farm. I used to drive them aged 8,( not too much health and safety stuff in those days) when the hay had to be got in it was all hands to the pump. More tractor videos please.
Yes! More, please!
Brilliant ! It's engineering on an other level , I'd be interested in seeing more of this type of stuff , thank you.
Gday Oliver, I’d certainly enjoy seeing videos on finishing the tractor off, I’ve never seen or heard of the extra gearbox here in Australia before, Dad had couple of TEA20 and they weren’t real quick, the 35 he’s got now is a bit quicker on the road, you’ve put a lot of effort into this build so far mate, great job, cheers
Both extra gearboxes I’ve had to import from America so I’m not sure how popular they were in the rest of the world.
Yes, they’re slow. This one at idle will be similar speed to a normal one flat out.
You can swap parts between a 35 and 65 to make them fast as well, because the 65 has reduction drives. That might be a future project.
Thanks!
WOW ! what a great project . Always enjoy seeing your work Oliver. Keep us up to date ,Thank you.
I for one would love to see more videos on that project. In fact any old tractor work would be great
I love the old Ferguson tractors, it's what I learnt to drive on when I was six years old. I agree with not destroying these old tractors, but what you've done is amazing. Would love to see more on this and other similar projects.
Lovely project 👌🏼 always interesting to custom build and look back with pride 👏🏼
I’m happy to see tractor stuff 👍🏼
Anything engineering appeals to me.
Definitely need to see this completed, this is engineering at its finest.
Love to see some videos on it, if you mount brake master cylinder under seat area, use existing push rod from brake pedal through a leaver system to activate brake master cylinder to hydraulicly activate brake caliper pistons to turn it into disc brakes. Been looking at doing it on my fergie 28 grey.
Enjoy watching you videos in NZ.
All the engineering involved with this is just as interesting and entertaining as your other machining and welding videos, keep it up
A really interesting project to see an old grey Fergie resurrected from a bundle of parts, utilizing a unique blend of ingenuity, engineering and hard graft. You should be pround of your workmanship on this tractor and see these videos as 'bonus' videos to run alongside the main content of your channel.
More power to your elbow and your welder. A job well done. 👍👍
That's crazy!! I love it! I just recently found your channel and today found this video on the Ferguson. Your normal problem solving/repair videos are great but please make more vids on this tractor project every once in a while.
I will do when I find enthusiasm to finish it 😆
Love the Fergie video. Keep up the good work 👍
brilliant job keep doing what you're doing
you got some good skills interesting projects
Hi Oliver, hope you are well. Can't speak for anyone else, but I like to watch you do your magic, whether that's repairing, fabricating or trouble-shooting, and the wee grey one I reckon is part of the deal so I'd like to see more of that whenever you decide to. I used to watch a tv prog about uk hauliers which featured Metcalf Farm in Nth. Yorkshire. They have a collection of tractors including a V8 diesel powered unit which looked a lot of fun. Not so good for doing the shopping! Anyway, thanks for sharing. Stay safe and keep up the good work.
We went for a tour around metcalfe farms a few years ago with our young farmers club. They showed us around and into their tractor collection. It’s an impressive place!
Thanks!
ALL GOOD !!! Go for it ❤️👍👍always interested in your content .. lets see MORE of your 57 mph RIDE !!! CHEERS from St-Eustache Québec CANADA 🇨🇦CHERS !!!
Thanks for sharing great progress on fergi
My grandad taught me to drive on a Fergie TED20 at the age of 13. I'm all for more little grey Fergie content, especially a custom build - its all engineering.
I would certainly be interested in videos of you working on the Fergie
The Daihatsu looked really tidy in the body still, such a shame when they rot out from below. Excellent use of the engine and it’s a fascinating project so definitely more videos please 🙏
Mate what you find interesting is whats good to watch if your enthusiastic about a subject then it will make great videos.
Very interesting. Thank You for the videos.
Don’t worry about us lot not liking videos about the tractor. It’s all engineering, so crack on and show us all the things your up to.
Hello from Canada. I think that is a great project. REALLY like it. Yes some of the ole boys don't like to see things like that happen. But it brings new life to an old piece. I like to build things like that as well.
Do your videos on whatever you like Oliver. Engineering and mechanical servicing, custom creativity and modifications is all entertainment. You are very good at what you do and it’s your story.
I got a old grey fergie for fathers day 2 year ago which ive just restored wish i had one of those gearboxs for it cant wait to sèe it finished love tractor runs
That’s a lot of fabrication work. Well done Sir.
Looks like an engineering marvel.
I agree with the others. This is creative engineering. You have nothing to copy or base it on. You have to design it, engineer it, fabricate it and then ensure it works. No doubt Plan A sometimes will not work but that's the "fun" in it - to that end also show what did not work - it shows you are human and we won't feel so bad when we also get it wrong. All this is right up your alley and also why we watch your work. I have seen other well-seasoned viewers (like myself) say they (and I ) have learnt a few things from a "young un". Keep it up; just mix it in with your other work. Retired 71 yr old mechanic/machinist/welder/fabricator in Land Down Under.
That’s a well engineered bit of kit I love it.
Really interesting project. I think the fabrication and problem solving associated with are very interesting. You mentioned modifications to add hydraulic disc brakes from dodge, and other mods. I bet a lot of other people are interested in this type of design and fabrication.
What a cool tractor. Lots of interest in my local for older tractors. I’m ottawa, Ontario Can. “The valley”.. G’day from the valley !
well done... yes to some updates on this
Print up some liability waivers and charge for rides on the world’s fastest Ferguson! 😁😁😁 I would be the first in line. I am like the rest , it is all engineering whether it’s an old tractor or a ditching bucket. The frame for the engine is top notch, it looks factory made to me. Keep up the good work and Be Safe!
Hey very impressive what you had already done to the tractor. I think you should not do what the people want to see you should show what you want to show us. Do what brings you fun.
I personally love the variety of jobs you do. So the odd progress video on this project would be very welcome. I also need to see you doing 60 on an old tractor! 😆
Hi Oliver, I'm pretty sure if you find something interesting there will be plenty of others who will agree with you! If you
put a spanner or a gas torch on anything, people will watch! Keep up the good work!👍
It’s all engineering would be glad to see it. Thanks for sharing.
Yet another top video to watch . As a Land rover fanatic, all engineering videos you do on anything is great and interesting. Crikey I could send you millions of bits to fabricate for Land rovers !!!! 😅
I am ment to be a welder fabricator my self but you take it to another level altogether
Man you're such a legend so jealous. Love to see the other going 👌 could do with my international b414 doing 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
What part of tractor modifications is NOT engineering? Your content is fine, varied and down to earth.
Love this and love the channel. Great stuff!
It’s looking good I built one a few years ago that we done tractor pulling for a bit of fun and did pretty good for being is light . my friend built a 4wd non turbo and was a great tractor
nobody NEEDS a Fergie that fast but now I've seen this, I find myself wanting one........
They are a lot of fun!
really want to put a 300tdi into one and use it to replace our International 785xl dont need the big nash anymore so going to get something more fun to play with. looks great you have done a great job here.
I think the 300’s are a bit more tricky. Something to do with the rear crank seal housing or something. I’ve not had anything to do with a 300tdi though so I could be wrong.
I fitted a foot throttle on my mf 35 X. It was the worst shaped thing I have ever bought. The foot rest sloped towards to the ground and forward about 3/4 inch . Grinding, reeming and shimming later got it to sit square. The one you have fitted looks perfect. Also so much movement on the linkage I made one from flat bar with an angle bracket and a 10 mm sleeve for the round bar coming from the pedal, bolted on with the top bolt of the pedal. Looking forward to seeing how you get on.
This one was also terrible, I had to do the same to get mine to fit properly.
Variety is the spice of life!
First class recovery and use of an old Fergie. Used to have a log pull with one versus an Allis Chalmers B back in the sixties. Mind you the horses could pull far better with less mess and effort in wet and muddy conditions.
really cool
oh please do videos on it ....anything like that i love ...
Great video! I enjoy watching you fabricate. Have you ever considered putting an old Ford Flattie V8 in a tractor like that? I love old tractors.
As one of the "Old boys" myself, I personally don't worry too much about things like that. I generally refer to the purists as "Rivet counters" since there seems to be an obsession amongst some to keep it "original" 🙄It always puts me in mind of Trigger's brush from only fools and horses, which had 17 new heads and 14 new handles! 👀 😆 Ignore rivet counters, unless you never use a tractor It's kind of difficult to have a 60 or 70 year old machine with all original parts (Original to it at any rate!)
I’d never engine swap a tidy original tractor but some of them don’t like seeing any modifications at all. I think it keeps my generation and younger interested in them. Once you’ve seen one standard one, you’ve seen them all.
@@snowballengineering Aye, exactly! When the blocks shot or tin worms eaten all the panels it's time to replace things. There comes a point of no return where repairs or restoration requires replacement. That's the time to upgrade .
On the inlet, you could make a 1920’s style indy car finned alloy aftercooler manifold type that is relatively flat and low profile and may look cool too.
Resurrecting old metal is a worthy profession and past time.
Take care.
Search "1930 Fred Frame Duesenberg - Revs Institute" this will lead you down the rabbit hole.
Good luck
I would like to see a few video's of you working on this in amongst your other stuff.
Lovely build and creative design. Could you not rebuild the lower radiator fitting and create a smooth 90 degree sweeping inlet.
The foot throttle is a great idea as I recall the hand throttle levers problematic like those on the fordson Dexter.
Rare glance of Olly minus a beanie and hi vis jacket. Another great Video and showcase of Smowball Engineering abilities and design 👌
Yes, I’ll have to do something like that. Now I’ve got a tig welder I’ll be able to alter it. That’s another reason work stopped, I needed a tig to make the pipe work but now I don’t have an excuse.
My other one just has the hand throttle and it’s a bit of a hand full steering and working the throttle at the same time.
It’s getting a bit warm for the hat and hi vis now.
Thanks!
The adrenaline would be pumping flying down the road at 60mph on that 😂 and most definitely do more video about them hard not to love
It’s quite the rush 🤣
Re the rad, if you ran a steel pipe up the side of the rad to clear the alt. Could you make a downswept exchaust and fit an outside air filter to hide the turbo,or fit a tool box to cover it
More Ferguson videos please!
love this, genius!!
You show a lot of skill with the stuff you show, so why not make a few videos of the tractor? I'd watch it!
Fantastic job, any idea of horsepower yet?
Think they are 100hp in the fourtrak. Will be a little less now without the intercooler.
I’d daily that!
Just needs a cab for the rainy days.
With engine spinning at 5000 rpm does the hydraulic pump designed for
Hydraulic pump is only engaged with the pto in gear. So just have to remember to disengage the pto before giving it the big revs.
Does it even need a turbo, and could the alternator be moved to the other side?
It would be a crime to remove the turbo 🤣
No space at the other side for the alternator
@@snowballengineering ok, hard to tell on a video.
videos videos videos 💯%
Strange that Some people dont like these Ted,s customized
Must be the same people that dont like Griffons for pulling😂
Was it for sale not to long ago?
No, she’s never been for sale
@@snowballengineering ah must have been someone done the same thing then 👍🏻
SO wrong…it’s just right ! 👍🏻
Hello if you contact Dave the Massey greu who also has a UA-cam channel he seems to create miracles I expect he might be able to help you with the shaft ?, good luck very interesting, as we had a grey Fergie ourselves.
Brilliant but get rid of that mullet 😊
Absolutely not. Although it does need sorting out 🤣
Those 3 speed gearboxes sound great. Shame there not made heavy-duty that could be changed into an Oshkosh HGV, HET, heavy duty hauler, not sure if I'm saying that correctly. They run the Detroit 2 stroke diesel motor but are slow & only run at 45 to 55 miles an hour flat out, the screaming Jimmy. Would be a good market in the USA for something like that. . Wish I still had the kit to try to build one but had to move & no longer have a workshop 😞 great work by the way & nive videos just subscribed 👍
Start a new channel with your tractor stuff...
Anything you put up is worth watching. Great content and serious band width in your skill set! Just the layout work in your support structure is an incredible piece of work.
The legal disclaimer part with the eye roll made me lose it😂😂😂😂😂 that’s a pretty sweet setup you have there. There was a a couple guys who put 350 chevy’s in farmall H and farmall M around here and they scooted pretty good but not that fast! Looking forward to the videos on it.
Great job on that fergie. I think your content appeals to everyone because you are a very good all rounder. You are spot on getting it to go faster. I have done road runs with a standard fergie very slow and noisy. Far less stress and better economy with your set up. When you do road runs they sometimes end up quite a way from home can be a long drive back on a slow tractor wet and tired but very enjoyable. You have made a good impression with a lot of viewers I think. Don't change good thing thanks. Mark and Ruth south Wales GB.
The "little Grey", one of the best tractors ever built 💪🙂👍
Happy to watch the tractor build 🚜👍
Definitely make some videos of this, what a great project. Possibly not for the purists but the rest of us would really enjoy it.. Great cannel mate.
Ho yes please post more videos about the tractor 🚜 it will be just as good as the engineering videos is still engineering 👍 👌
Yeah that would be interesting to see working on the old tractor.
I would say go for the disc brakes, we once had a 135 with multi-power that would go at least 28 mph. It seemed to rev much higher than usual. Problem was as you say “stopping in the distance you could see to be clear”.
Change the bottom radiator outlet to the other side could that be easier?
Most excellent idea!
Fantastic project Oliver give us more Oliver !!! It’s right up many people street . There will be great video enjoyable content😊
Adam Booth of Adom79 or Keith Rucker of Vintage Machinery org. They are the men for the shaft manufacture but they are in USA
Show the building of the tractor.
Seems to be a lot of support in the comments for more footage of the Fergie. I can add to that. If you decide to redo the manifold and realign the turbo. That would be a very interesting video. As the old platitude goes. You are a mind of useless information. But a lot of people are interested in seeing that put to use.
If you dont want to have these sorts of videos on this channel, maybe make a second channel, something like snowball fun time
do it i am interested in seeing more on this tractor the custumization interesting
The radiator hose pieces should be soldered in if you need to remove or re orientate them.
I would like to see more of this tractor
Madness but great fun….
Drift off for a bit and get this on the road
Love it. Bring it on!
more pls
Nice work!
Love it man
Love it 👍
Interesting stuff young man. I wouldn't object to seeing videos of work on thecold Fergie.
