    The hype up for the goggles was absolutely astounding, and the fact that you literally hated them made it hilarious

    It's designed for Asian type face and specially the eye zone. If see, most of us (I'm Taiwanese) we have less pronounced the orbital cavity, eyebrows and eyes are almost at the same level. Western people eye has like a "ceiling" and there comes the eyebrows. That is why you feel them so painfull, that puncturing feeling is how I felt using the Sweden goggles. (Hilarious but true).
    That is the reason that you can see this design of goggles in every Japan and Asian competition, specially Japanese competition, and none of the Western swimmers are using them. The design is none or 0 close to the classic Sweden 🥽. Although my favorites still being the first generation of fastskin goggles, but I have 2 of these kind of Asian face friendly goggles and I use them during muy trainings. (Not these swipe tech because is relatively new)
    My recommendation is, if you are Asian, go for it. Otherwise please do not buy them.

      Thanks for the insight. It's funny because from just a quick look they seemed similar enough to Swedish but as you say they aren't the same! Swedish are super popular at the world level but your right no Asian swimmers wear them but most a wear a blade style!

      Your mileage may be different with them but probably not worth risk! Try Malmsten Swedish, cheap and cheerful!

    i'd recommend the aquaforces by arena, that way you can put the noseclips from the carbon ultra on them. worked for me and i love using the goggles for either training or racing.

    I’ve tried the Mad Wave version, and in my opinion they should change the plastic nose bridge for a string with the rubber tube. Having a plastic bridge may not be a problem when wearing speedsockets, cobra or similar, but for “solid” goggles having a plastic nose bridge can be very unconfortable on your eyes since plastic bridges never fit exactly on everyone’s face

      Good call, maybe that's what caused the discomfort here for me. The gaskets didn't seen massively different to that of Swedish that I very much find pleasent!

      Yes they do a version that does have a soft gasket, maybe I should have tried that!

    Like some of the comments here noted, typically goggles from Japan tend to fit differently in comparison "normal" goggles. I bought the arena aquaforce and the Mizuno Accel eye and they don't quite fit my face. If the largest nose piece was a size bigger, it would be a perfect fit. What's funny is that I gave them to my buddy and he said they were the most comfortable goggles he's ever worn. We're both Asian so I guess his facial structure fits better than mine.

    • @TheSwimsuitGuy
      @TheSwimsuitGuy  4 роки тому

      Yes definitely seems to be hit and miss with the fitting!

    • @kgspvgsp7569
      @kgspvgsp7569 3 роки тому

      What I have learned is that the underlying bony facial structures are more similar that we would otherwise think. For the longest time I refused to buy regular goggles here in Canada thinking they wont fit me. Turns out they are the perfect fits. I think maybe it has more to do with inter-personal variation than lets say inter-racial.

    I wore the swedish goggles for my entire competitive career! At the end there in college I also had the TYR socket rockets too. Those Swedish goggles lasted FOREVER. In fact I still have some of them in a drawer lol. In my retirement now i use the Speedo vangisher and just got the Arena tracks which quite cushion-y and comfy lol. I have been looking at the Arena version of these "blade" goggles cause they look so cool but they are not available in the US as you mentioned and neither is this new cap you just tested. How was it?

    • @TheSwimsuitGuy
      @TheSwimsuitGuy  4 роки тому

      Yes I know people that have had the same Swedish for 20 odd year, just replacing parts that perished! I had some socket rockets at one point as well. Unfortunately I bought the M in this cap and really should have got the L it's rather small on my head 😅

  •  4 роки тому

    Please make the video about the Swedish. I have a very old arena one, and a Tyr socket rocket.

    I have worn this type of goggles for long time and I got very used to them and after that I find them actually more comfy than any arena or speedo model for practices, maybe I'm just weirdo 'cause I wear blade goggles everyday and love speedo lzr racer x 😂

    • @TheSwimsuitGuy
      @TheSwimsuitGuy  4 роки тому +2

      To be honest I would have tried to adapt to these but like I couldn't physically keep them on longer than 50m! Maybe I have weird eye sockets aha!

      @@TheSwimsuitGuy I have heard that these work better on asian eyes, but for some europeans they fit too. It just depends on your eye sockets I think. But if someone is thinking about buying these I would recommend just trying them and see how they like them.

    Did you try to put the biggest nose bridge on? If you did that it takes a little getting used to the goggles, or thats what I hear. I loved them instantly cuz straight of the bat I put the biggest nose bridge and it felt perfect for me. Might also be that the area between my the area between my eyes and nose is 100 percent flat fyi im not asian.

    I mean the shape of the goggle, unless taken to extremes, are not likely to change the drag at the speed people swim. I just have a big head, anyways, no amount of cutting away at the angles is going to reduce that much drag for me.

    Ordered the arena aquaforce swift, because they look very cool, but there is probably a high chance they will be too painful 😂

    This doesn’t have anything to do with the video but what size suits do you wear in each brand. I remember you commenting it in a previous video but I can’t find it. You should put it in the description of each video or the about section of your channel!

      @@TheSwimsuitGuy youre right! i have those GX sonic Eye and are blade style, you may no see it from the design, but the surface of contact to the face and the shape are almost the same between view blade style and mizuno ones, both aren´t cushioned. So you´ll feel the punction if you´re western face type factioned ( I bought the gx sonic cap, the sonic III MR and the sonic eye years ago from rakuten, the complete set. Be aware of the cap, there 2 versions, full ear covered and non covered). I really bought and tried a lot of swimming goggles. I´m taiwanese but I live in argentina, so where i train im the only asian guy, and as I´m always testing goggles, training partners always borrow my goggles just for fun, and everyone says the same about the View Blade goggles and sonic eyes, it hurts so much that they can´t even complete de 25mts of the pool. As when i use Sweden goggles, I feel that the edges of the goggle cutting my eyelids.
      Cheers great channel!

    I bought myself a pair of these, as I heard they fit asian faces better. The first week was hell, the second week was still just pure pain, but by the 4th week of wearing them, I could never go back; after adjusting to these goggles they just feel so good on your face.
