According to New MCI Curriculum, From 2019 Batch we have only 10-11 months in 2nd Proff year & not 18 months (1½year). So, It's tough task to finish Robbins in 10 months along with volatile subjects like Pharmacology & Microbiology. Any suggestions please.
Yes fair enough. The reduction in the duration will make it bit difficult. So lets dissect Robbins and concentrate on the important aspect General Path Cell injury, Inflammation, Genetics (Half of which will be overlapping with biochem), Neoplasia - Must to read. Inmmunology (overlap of immunodef and hypersensitivity, HIV from micro) (Infections and environment - overlaps) Hemat yes. Systemic Patho yes. (Again try to correlate with the clinics cases - and try to apply the concepts from gen path, so becomes less voluminous)

We need not have exotic cases..80-90% of the cases are the same easy ones.. Opd will have similar complaints. But u ll have inpatients as well . Try to go to wards and learn .. ask your seniors your APs.. you will do well for sure..! And all of it starts with trust. So no more excuses. Tell to yourself u ll do good

Sure..! Gen path is a basic knowledge which we have to read.. like bricks needed to build the building ! Few areas needed memorizing (like inflammtory mediators) majority again it will be linked eith the diseases

No offence to any other pathology book. Robbins is a text book with knowledge of 5-10 exports every chapter. Rest everything in market is knowledge of a single person. Experience of a book is unmatched !

There might be two problems 1) Boredem of reading anything - If so please start the habit fo reading, let it be any book 2) Not finding interest in medical books - This you have to develop. And mostly the interest starts when you get it correct. So do this. Take a simple topic, 1 or 2 pages. (lets say hyperplasia, hypertrophy) Then finish it. Since it's a small and easy topic you will complete and the sense of satisfaction and it's possible to do will be there taking you to the next step. !

No need to read Robbins - Read Ramdas Nayak of Pathology - One person will read Robbins 2 times in 2nd year - but one may read Ramdas Nayak 5 times in 2nd year in the same time. At the end, what is important is the knowledge that you RETAIN / REMEMBER and not the content that you have read once. And if you feel , some concepts are unclear, you can refer Robbins for only some of the topics. I am a final year student and I am suggesting you this as a senior. Do this now and thank me later. 😁
No not at all.. Reading a textbook vs a notes from the book has massive difference in the approach. It's not about retaining what you read. You will understand the importance on "textbooks" when u enter practice ! Best wishes Harsh !
