My Mister is a masterpiece. It's still my all-time number one Kdrama. And I didn't know she was sick to the point of dropping out of the production midshoot; because for someone who is diligent and beyond hardworking like IU to even think about dropping the work means she was extremely ill mentally and physically. I wish eveyone would see My Mister.
All I have to say is thank god!!! she overcame this difficult period. This drama was really something special, definitely a classic to be talked about for many years to come. I don't think it would have been without her. Also great that she had a considerate director. Usually filming schedules are very tight and demanding, he really is an angel for accommodating it for her and stepping away from the system's design. 아무튼 한국의 최고의 자랑거리인 거 같아 우리의 이지은님 사랑입니다💖✨
Director Koreeda who cast IU in Broker after seeing her in My Mister said that he was surprised that she could act with such an infinite amount of self control/restraint throughout the whole drama. Maybe you could react to her song Next Stop which she drew inspiration from scenes of the drama & finished writing during filming of MM.

In this clip, IU again proves herself to be genuine, authentic, and easy to love and admire. My Mister is my favorite TV show, ever. The show is made even more poignant with the passing of her friends before the filming and now the loss of Lee Sun-kyun.

초반 1,2화 방영후 일부 연얘인들이 (유병재 등) 좋았다고 SNS에 올렸다가 페미들 한테 공격당하고 사과문까지 올렸었죠~ 제목 "나의 아저씨" 의 늬앙스가 나의 키다리 아저씨도 될 수 있고, 나의 나이 많은 연인이 될 수도 있는데, 페미들은 후자로 인식하고 드라마 내용과 상관없이 SNS를 들쑤시며 불시청 운동같은 걸 해버렸습니다. (비슷한 시기에 아이유 노래에서 소아성애 같은 걸 시비거는 페미들의 흐름과 연결도 되어 있었고요...). 덕분에 시청률이 낮아지고 당시엔 널리 알려지지 못한 불운의 드라마가 되었고요. (다음해 백상예술상 거의 싹슬이 한건 아이러니).
As a viewer, My Mister was a very good drama, but it was also depressing to watch. Watching the drama made my already depressed self even more depressed. It's not surprising that IU experienced difficulties with her mental health during filming. I imagine it must be extra difficult for her to inhabit that character. But I'm glad things have turned out this way. I hope she won't struggle with coping if she accepts similar roles in the future.
And yet, as difficult as it was to watch, I was uplifted by how it ended. It showed 2 people saving one another through love, kindness and friendship. It was hard to watch but left me feeling good about people and life.
