Props to Byron for being so respectful and understanding especially when you're surrounded by people saying "ewwwwww nooooo" (tiff) about a traditional childhood dish you grew up eating and loving because it's hard not to feel offended that they're being so close minded about it. Even if you don't like it, try to be more open minded and tolerant of someone else's cultural cuisine.
