    I've watched many videos of how to tie the dreaded harper's knot and this is, in my opinion, the best explanation and demo of all harp knots hands down...much applause.!!!

    Excellent job: slow, graphic, nice big white rope, black backdrop. A real pro. Thank you! So many other sites show, "Make a loop this way make a loop that way then a quick twist of the wrist - done!" Whaaat? You're the best.

    I've tried many tutorials before coming to this one and to be honest this was the only one that finally helped me made that darn knot. This is the first time for me which mean I sat for almost an hour in half looking and trying other tutorials before I finally got it with your help. I cried of excitement! Thanks!

    This is definitely the best example and demonstration. I've been using the Camac knot ever since Amy from the VA Harp Center told me about it. Much easier than the "traditional" knot. I always take a quick peek at this video when a string breaks, to be reminded of how to tie it. Thanks so much!

    I've finally learned to watch this video of Amy tying the Camac knot EVERY time I change a string. Works perfectly the first time - every time!! At 2:45 on this video. Thank you soooo much!

    I've watched others but this is the only one I achieved the knot with anchor with! Thanks!

    Thank you for such a clear demonstration of tying harp strings. Changing strings can be daunting for new harpists.

      Thank you. I just re-strung my entire harp. It is a Triplett Celtic II. It was a challenge, but I did it. I will be saving this video for future string changes though as some of the other ones I watched seemed kind of complicated and I am not even sure I actually tied my strings properly. Plus, I switched the 3rd and 4th octaves from nylon to folk gut, so I had quite the time making the knots in those strings! Glad I found this. I will struggle no more!

      Hi Chris! It is a Camac knot. It really is just a figure 8 knot but it is the knot that Camac harps uses with all of their harps.

    Thank you so much for this excellent demonstration! Great idea to show the knots with rope first, so we can really see what you’re doing. I’m saving this video for future string breaks ;-) I might just try that Camac knot next time!

    Thank you for the clear explanations. Using the large rope to demonstrate the knots before doing it on an actual harp string was extremely helpful. But I especially want to thank you for teaching the Camac knot!! I had never seen it before, and I managed to make it work on my first try, following a very frustrating afternoon trying to tie a secure traditional harper's knot. Do you know where I could find a diagram I could print out to put with my harp strings so I won't have to watch the video anytime I need to change a string? Thank you so much!

    When I work the bottom few inches of the string and it starts to look white, is that harmful to the string? I’m always afraid I’m doing a bunch of damage with my clumsy knot-tying…

    • @VirginiaHarpCenterMidlothian
      @VirginiaHarpCenterMidlothian  2 роки тому

      No, this is typical for strings that are made from natural fibers, such as gut strings. If you have any additional questions, please do not hesitate to call us at (804) 378-3761!

    How the heck is everyone able to "pull the knot tightly" enough to hold the toggle? I've even tried using two pair of pliers to pull, and can't get the knot to tighten enough to hold the toggle. And you seem to do it with your bare fingers??

    • @VirginiaHarpCenterMidlothian
      @VirginiaHarpCenterMidlothian  4 роки тому

      Katie, it is sometimes super hard to tighten the string around the string anchor. One trick I use is to hold the string anchor in place loosely with a piece of painters tape. Once you tighten the string in the harp, pull the tape off. Hope this helps!

    Hello , can u help please ,
    my broken string had small piece of wheel like leather inserted, does the same apply to it ? i mean do have to put the string inside and tie the knot the sameway ?

    • @VirginiaHarpCenterMidlothian
      @VirginiaHarpCenterMidlothian  4 роки тому +1

      Slide the leather washer on the string and then tie the knot as normal. The leather washer should end up between the knot and the inside of the soundboard. Good luck!
