    Thank you for this video. My wife and I just bought a new home with a tankless system. Hot flow was horrible and then I saw the P1 code. After cleaning the filter the flow is awesome!

      Just make sure to check it at least annually. Thanks for sharing.

    You are awesome! I bought everything I needed from amazon for less than $90 and I was able to clean my tankless water heater with the help of your videos. In Los Angeles, the average price for someone to come out and clean it was $200-$400. I owe you lunch!😂😂👍🏻👍🏻😊

    Thank you! Had a water main break in the community and my hot water pressure went down to nothing. Just popped the filter and was totally clogged. A quick cleanup and back to normal. Saved me a couple hundred dollar call easy.

      That was clever of you to deduce the break and low pressure where related. Breaks into water system will result in particles entering and while not an issue for water heaters, they will quickly clog the small filter of a tankless. Thanks for sharing your experience and for watching.

      I recommend a whole house filter coming into your house. I would say something with a clear casing so you can see if it needs changing.

    You didn't shut off the hot water valve but went for the pressure/temp relief valve. If I'm able to shut off the hot water valve, I don't have to do the relief valve right?

    • @cfldriven
      @cfldriven  4 роки тому +1

      Yes the hot water valve would not turn by hand and I didn't want to force it with a tool. The advantage to using the pressure relief valve is the water will no longer be under pressure when you unscrew the filter cap. This will mean less spraying of water, therefore less of a mess. Also using the pressure relief valve will verify that it is still operational.
      Hope this helps and thanks for the question.

    Tip! If you haven't tested your pressure relief valve in a long time I recommend you have one on hand BEFORE testing. Sometimes they wont shut off after testing especially if it's been a few years since testinf

      Depending on local code, some system are not vented outside or into a drain, a stuck valve could end up making a mess. Either have a spare or make sure you can shut the flow at the service valve.
      Thanks for sharing your tip.

    Can you use CLR instead of just holding the filter under the tap?

      Running water through the filter is a quick and easy way of cleaning it without damaging it.

      @@DaveyOful Yes mentioned in video. Guess you could shut off main to house, let water out of system through lowest faucet then remove and clean filter.

    How do you clean your filter with running water once you’ve turned the water off on your house?

    • @cfldriven
      @cfldriven  5 років тому +1

      Well remember we are using the service valves to isolate the cold water from entering the unit. We are not closing off the main shut off to the house, thus you can use the cold side of a faucet to clean the filter.
      Hope this helps.

    We just bought a home about a year ago and I did not know the filter had to be cleaned. I never cleaned it once but unit started flashing p1 today. I'm hoping cleaning the filter will fix issue. P1 is code for not enough water flow. But we were also running dishwasher and washing machine at same time so I'm not sure if filter issue or not enough pressure. The unit is outside home. There is one unit for entire home.

      Get a pressure gauge to determine the water pressure you have. If pressure is okay and filter is clean, I would perform a lime and scale flushing ua-cam.com/video/St38CFhiaI0/v-deo.html Why? Because it could be the inside of your tankless is clogging up with water deposits. This should be done annually especially if you don't have a water softener before the tankless unit. Let us know what you discover.

    Is this a fix for the E29 error code ?

    • @cfldriven
      @cfldriven  4 роки тому +1

      No this will not help with E29. That usually indicates low temp on the heat exchanger. Causes maybe clog air inlet or dirty heat exchanger. Check out

      for more info. Best of luck to you. If you remember share your solution. Thanks for watching.

    • @cfldriven
      @cfldriven  7 років тому

      I have noticed some of the particles are really attached to the fragile filter. While I have never used canned air, I would imagine it could come in handy. I would suggest short light burst. Let us know how it works.

    I cleaned my filter (P1 error) but my unit still won't power on. I turned it off because P1 was flashing. Now it won't come back on.

    • @cfldriven
      @cfldriven  4 роки тому

      This is what I found for P1.
      An Error Code P1 indicates that the water flow is too low. ... Check and clean the water inlet filter on the tankless unit. Increase the flow rate or adjust the temperature higher. If the above issues are not the problem, there may be a problem with the water flow sensor.
