I passed my firearm test and bought a handgun the same day, but my firearm got delay from DOJ also. I have no criminal record or anything like that. I’m in the same boat!

Same here brother. Everytime I've tried to buy a firearm I get delayed sometimes up until 10 days smh. Makes no since I have a clean record and have been delayed every single time I have tried to purchase a firearm.
Day 7 for me got my call today saying I was delayed but don’t worry they will call me back to say if I got approved I don’t have a criminal record I don’t get in trouble with the law
It does vary from state to state though in terms of what permits are required/offered. For instance in Virginia, you don't need to register a firearm that you've purchased and don't need a permit to open carry, you have to fill out the 4473 and wait though if you do it this way. But you do need to get a special permit for concealed carry and I believe that may exempt you from the wait.
@@teutonalex I have my CCW permit and I just went to buy a deer rifle for the upcoming hunting season and got delayed as well. I am not happy about that but I know it's not the fault of the gun dealer. It sucks because they take your hard earned cash and then tell you that you can't have the gun you just paid money for. If this were the case for all people who buy guns I'd be OK with it but it's not like that. Oh well, I'll get it eventually I guess.
Walter M turned out I got denied. Sent in the appeal and got the denial overturned but I still have no idea what the reason was. The whole thing took two months after factoring in our new ten day wait period that came into law (WA) while I was waiting, regardless of ccw. I googled my not so common name and the first thing that popped up was some idiot kid’s FB post about how he “has to go to court for a meth charge, lol”. A local police blotter on him stated he failed to appear. Maybe that was why, maybe not. I guess I’ll never know.

RichEvolutionCo I have made 4 gun purchases over the last several months. I have been delayed on all 4. In each case I was able to pickup my purchase after the 3 business day hold. No explanation for any of the delays. Even though it sucks, I have decided not to get my hopes up to bring my purchase home the same day.

if it takes more than 3 days the FFL can legally sell you the gun if this is still happening you should find a different FFL

I have a concealed permit and tried to buy my first pistol and got a 15 DAY DELAY! They won't tell me why and there is nothing I can do.

2023 and here we are with a 30 day delay.
Delayed me on a wensday, with the current system i have to wait till the following Tuesday before I can have it if they dont call back.
