How wonderful to praise God for His bounty ... These lovely inspirational programs are what is desperately needed today,,, not the garbage that is shown nowadays which are senseless !!! I loooove Raymond Burr, a wonderful versatile actor !!!
Thank you. I thought about these films for years and about 2005 I began to look for them and with the help of Family Theater Productions and the Catholic Diocese in Boston and a very helpful archivist there, we were able save the films; it would not have been possible however without everyone's help and especially Susan Wallace's help and her excellent assistant. The DVD is for sale at the Catholic Channel's site and at Family Theater Production's site; I believe I have notice of that at the end of each short film. By the way, these films have nothing to do with any specific Christian religion; they are peculiar to all and none; one has merely to have an interest in the psalms of David that I view as poems and an interest in these remarkable productions. David Raksin and his brother, Ruby, and two other composers provided the music without charge, and many very talented film makers donated their time and artistic contribution to each short film. I edited the film you just watched for it to correspond what we experienced on television. The EWTN Network on occasion still broadcasts these films since the films were made public back in 2006; I have probably forgotten now when I began to locate the films. I will always be grateful to the archivist at the Catholic Special Collections Diocese for his good nature and interest and willingness to help me see that these short films were made available to the public.
@@nickandmikec Thank You Nick.... i appreciate these films...i never seen them before ... i am a christian person and love my Saviour, and i feel so at peace watching these ... God Bless xxx
As I mentioned, I recently bought this dvd for a reasonable price and I enjoy it very much! How I love the voice of the late great Raymond Burr! His commentary in this video is incredible!
This is one of the first programs i ever remember watching as a child. What an encouragement to wake up Saturday morning to this than the garbage the kids today are exposed to today.
My husband remembered this from his childhood. He tried to search and this popped up. As we were wat hing the voice switched to William Shatner, I recognized it right away. Very cool.
Glad to hear that Califgirl101. It took me some time to find out who had these shorts and another five years after spearheading the effort to save these short films to see them released, thanks to an archivist at the Boston diocese and two very special women, Susan Wallace and Julie, her assistant, who always kept me in the loop regarding what was going on. William Shatner was very pleased, too. Everyone thought they were lost. I'm so glad they were not.
It's so nice to hear this. I cared, too, about these shorts and went out to find them and then had the help of a great archivist at the diocese library in Boston who then got the ball rolling. But if not for two women, Susan Wallace and her assistant, Julie, the shorts may never have been released. I wanted also to save them because of the music by the great David Raksin and his brother, Ruby. I was a kid, too, when I first watched these in Los Angeles in the 1960s. Nick
The first part is narrated by Raymond Burr and the psalm itself by William Shatner. He narrated several of these short films and acted in two of them. More up here to view.
I have always favored this beautiful segment! I was wondering however if you could post the 30 minute colored short of The Search with commentary and host Raymond Burr as our guide? Even though I have The Search on dvd I would very much like to see it on UA-cam if it is at all possible to do so!
Of course you have it all now since you purchased the video. I edited it because it was a bit flawed in its entirety and best represents, edited, the feeling that the five minute shorts represented. Nick C.
Thanks for your thoughts and replies. I am very glad that others find these short films remarkable. I am very fond of the B&W films, especially, "By The Wayside," and really all of them, even the longer colored short, "The Search," that has some technical problems and that I made a point of when talking with Susan Wallace at the Catholic diocese in MA. I had suggested that whatever was considered while they "saved" these short films to remember they could do only so much. Pricing is very fair.
what interested me the most about this particular video was that I found the web site of The Psalms which I think is FamilyRosaryVideo and I might suggest find them on Google!
Wow! Raymond Burr, such an awesome voice.
😌 Raymond Burr......What a nice and humble voice.

califgirl101… I, too, love Raymond Burr’s voice. I wish he had read the scriptures.

Sounds like Capn Kirk narrated this. Yes or No
Yes.

UA-cam doesn't allow me to post more than a ten minute video.
