'64 was a GREAT year! Great Strats were made, the Rolling Stones first album hit, the Beatles send their careers skyrocketing via the Ed Sullivan appearance, The Ford Mustang was born, A Fistful of Dollars began the Spaghetti Western craze, Goldfinger debuted, Anderton's was born, I was born. 'Nuff said.
"Get 3 coffins ready" two minutes later "my mistake, four coffins"
Yep - I was playing in 1964....and in Jim Marshal's in Hanwell you could have bought a Strat for £50....nobody played them; nobody wanted one. We had to wait until Jimi turned up to change all that. Wish I'd bought a couple - ha!!
I was 17 in 1964....lots of players hanging at JMs at that time....Pete Townshend, Ron Wood, Mitch Mitchell, John Entwistle, Keith Moon, were guys I knew then.
People always say that '69 is the most important year in the 60s, but honestly '64 beats it
I dont mean to be so off topic but does someone know of a method to log back into an Instagram account..?
I was stupid lost the account password. I would love any tips you can give me!
That's really nice of Lee to give Pete his strat back if they sell the guitars.
7:18 we knew what you was about to play Pete 😉😂
Remember that we all have our licks. The Captain is just lucky enough to have a signature lick that we all know! If we were in his shoes our licks would come out too. If you analyze Charlie Parker’s solos you’ll discover he had only something like 32-33 licks that he arranged over every song. I don’t use different words every time I speak and I’m not gonna play new licks every time I play either. It’s how you use those words and notes that’s interesting! So Rock on Captain because I myself like your licks!
Came here to say dammit Lee give the man his guitar back. And as I was typing that’s what you said you’d do. You’re a class act. I’ll never forget how kind you were to me and my daughter in your shop. We had come to Andertons on a trip to the U.K. from Australia and you were clearly busy and stopped to say hello and chat to us. 15 months later she still talks about it all the time.
I can't believe it took them so long to parody Lee's signature guitar testing riffs. I've been doing it for ages with my buddies, it's so damn funny.
Aka. The Leeck
You guys are getting way too cheeky with these custom shop strats and I am loving it. Great colours.
My word those look beautiful!! Also, the Captain used some Pete-ish phrasing in his opening solo!!! That's awesome to see! Pete as always is just a effortless nonchalant badass!
The look on Lee's face when Pete almost starts to play Little Wing. LOL
Yup, that would lead to a take down faster than mercury on a greased ski jump.
He didn't notice when he played Wait Until Tomorrow though.
It really does a great job of getting that Hendrix vibe. Time to dust off the Voodoo Chile tabs
Great playing, Cappy-Tahn!
Vibrato master! Tasty
Next you need to do a run of Pete's Signature Strat via MIM FSR so more customers can join the club.
When Pete arpeggiated the chord Lee liked it sounded just like the Resident Evil Safe Room Theme
Damn, your comment game me a wave of sweet nostalgia. I love that music.
Lovely sounds. You got a great tone there Kaptain Anderton! That closing jam was lovely.
Makes me wish I could come have a go at some of those Fenders even though I’m an7 String Ibanez player. Well done as always Gents!!
Lovelypickups in these....just the right output for more snap and sparkle. Nooooooice ! Totally digging that 'Daphne Blue' colour!
I love how you guys can’t help but give a little giggle at the freekin tone of the one with the 64 neck. I feel like I can even tell over youtube compression and everything just how Strat that baby sounds
Do a year in review video of every reaction Lee has when someone else plays one of his riffs?
Real delish tone on the intro Lee, middle position plus distortion !!! Cool chordal manueverings Danish Pete, like the Average White Band -ish thing.
Walter Trout used the middle position in his interview with The Captain.
Pete's clean strumming on the blue guitar near the end is the best sound from a Strat that I have ever heard!
That was my favorite opening jam you guys have done, bummer that it was so short!
Actually, it’s the Alex Lifeson chord. (Aka, Rush) F#11
Wow! The sound off of these Strats are F’n sick !!! Need one in my life !!
It's all about quality build & the Neck. Blues On....💙
I enjoyed that opening jam! Totally a head nodder!
Pete's playing at time stamp 17:42 you are the man so smooth your playing looked like it was putting Lee in a coma, truly he was loving it
Doug J do you know what chords he is playing there?
Haha love the analytic at the beginning, I’ve got Andertons Tv running in background at home most the time 🤘.
Cool upload. Love the vintage white one.
Pete is one to talk about repeating licks. He’s played that same thing that starts with a D/G thing then gets jazzy in like the last ten videos.
Absolutely, we call him Pete repeat :-)... But it can be difficult coming up with new licks when the guys film 4-5 a day... So we forgive them... :-)
Lee you are becoming an exceptional player, good stuff. Keep up the good work
Love 'em both, but particularly the Olympic White one. Looks and sounds outstanding!!!
I completely agree with talking about your pedals and amps more. We all want to know!
Middle pickup you say!? Watch the Captian meets Walter Trout for middle Strat pickup wonderfulness.
This is a shot in the dark but does anyone remember that episode of Andertons where Lee is trying to stomp on a pedal and keeps missing, so the editor added in Russian dance music and gave him a hat?
Adrian Sowa I remember that episode I can’t remember the title though.
OMG Lee, your pedal board is killer Bro, lovin that delay man, LOVIN IT.
Awesome jam lee throwing down the licks awesome
that blue one is so damn nice! that colour is really growing on me
Really enjoyed this video and the detail on the guitars but then discussing how the sound is built with pedals and amp. I may never by an expensive guitar but I have been convinced I need a Dane.
Yes! Anderton's Jams will live forever out there in space as electromagnetic waves sailing out to and beyond the edge of the universe!
awesome, simply awesome thanks guys
Damn you 2!!! That fiesta red is... what it is now..
That daphne blue is gorgeous.
My 64 has Clay dots... was an April model so slightly earlier... :-)
Lee gave me some chills around the 15 min mark
Jeez, you two make it look so easy.
Damn the captain's improv skills at the intro... rlly nice
These sound great with the custom shop 65s. There definitely is something special about hand-built guitars. Each one is a special snowflake. I just I wasn't so thrifty :-)
excellent as always Pete... and The Captain...
Look at Lee pulling off some Gilmore. Nice!
that vintage white sound is amazing
Pete is an insane player. Great tone on those guitars.
How can we assess the guitars when being played through all these pedals which color the tone?
Great guitars and all but I have to say that I'm more impressed with Lee's improvement, hitting the right notes etc. Goes to show that you can break out of your comfort zone (even after years) and learn new things. Well done Captain, the solo you did in the intro was on-point as was the Pink Floyd bit.
I thought Lee was playing super fast, and then I realized my player was at 1.25x speed. XD
Those Strats are brilliant.
Amazing guitars!
Can i have please the specs for a good pick up high?
Thanks man
For me, the '61 far and away. And that says more about the '61 than this '64 because the '64 still sounds and looks fantastic. But that '61-- in either the green or the blue -- made me all warm and fuzzy and tingly. 🙂 Wish I could afford one of those.
Also, I may have missed it, but I would love to see a quick shot of each of your pedal boards during your guitar demos.
Hey, are you guys doing a special on the TC Corona pedal this week, or are the shelves empty?
I'd be interested to know what the nut widths are on both strats 42mm?
There’s the proof we needed that Pete is a Timelord. He bought his 1964 Strat 36 years before it was made. Dr. Pete Who
56*
Wait, doesn't everyone get theirs that way?
Lee's playing is improved.
White replica sounds gorgeously.
You know you can see this channel from space 🎸👍
Pete always sounds great with a Strat!
I'd love it in Fiesta Red or Daphne Blue, but alas way out of my budget. I used to have a Custom Shop relic '61 in Fiesta Red on long-term loan from a friend around 2003/4 and he wouldn't sell it to me, even though he didn't ever play it. It was the one guitar I miss the most in my life. It was perfect. This one sounds amazing too.
Picked up a Sonic blue one last year. Best guitar I’ve ever played. Travel sheet shows most detail as being 65 tho. Not that am complaining. S
I'm always tempted to order one of "Pete's Strat" from you. As I live in New Jersey it's faintly ridiculous to have a guitar that was shipped from California to Surrey then back to NJ... However should you do a Shell Pink one at some point I may not be able to resist. Lovely tones therein. Best, Pete.
Maybe you can mail them so they just send the guitar from the factory?
Why not just support your local mom and pop store and order one from them...
OOOOOH There is a Shell Pink 64 Custom shop strat at my local store in Glendale California.... if you’re interested.
love the tide pool blue definitely old fashioned
Why am I watching this. I have a squier. This is going to make me cry cuz I can’t afford these. They look great though.
Hope you now at least have a MIM strat
Fiesta red and Daphne blue ooooooh!😍
Love it, Starvin' Marvin' :-D
Lee, Just give Pete that (cough) "Dodgem Blue" 61 that he fell in love with instead of the white one back. 🤷♂️
It's probably worth a lot more than his partscaster
You guys should put a mint green pickguard on Lee's "Pete's 64 ow strat" 🙂
Will we ever see a Pete & Paul Davids jam? 😍
You guys should do a fan spec'd strat. Setup a poll and have us vote on different opinions for it.
Robin Trower is known to like the mid pickup.
I wish I could improve like the captain has, I’ve only been playing for 5 years but still, I struggle to play like Pete or he does (obviously) and I’d like to get better, does anyone have any tips? Thanks
We need a new batch of Squier Purple Tele, higher-end than the Bullet, maybe with Pete's Monty pickups ! I would instantly buy one of those, with or without an extra pair of Pete's underwear.
Time for Captain to learn the Purple rain theme and troll Pete about it :D
Would love to see you try the Lincoln Brewster Strat... not because of the artist but because of the guitar... my first trip to andertons was 3 weeks ago... I walked out with a les Paul standard and then tried the Lincoln Brewster Strat... OMG... I then walked out with that too!!!!! Ps my loyalty points haven’t come through yet after 3 weeks... 🤷🏼♂️👍🏼
Daphne blue FTW!
You could not remember who said that he always played in the middle position. Was it not Walter Trout in Lee's interview with him?
I'll have one of each colour !
Hope Pete gets his Strat back, at least the neck
5:20 WOW!!!! now that how i like my FR SOOOOOOOO NICE!!!!
Pete we need a demo for that outro loop
I want one
What guitars do Pete have now?
i need the blue one now. Gosh....
Great vid! Please review the 70th anniversary broadcaster!
why pete prefer rosewood over maple fretbaord?
Captain Wich Pedals did you use in your solo?
All the Captains Pedals can be found here | www.andertons.co.uk/captain-andertons-rig
Hope that helps! 🤘
Is Lee getting a slice of youtube payments every time his lick is played? :)
I want that white one that Lee was playing, I wish I could afford it?
Tried to search for months now... It's so har to find this out bu searching... :/
Please make a video where you go thru specs and differences between
the 50s Strats (year by year), another video for the 60s and another for the '70...?
Bruh think it could be a really cool idea for you guys to maybe do a DIY guitar build, maybe like a partscaster or something? Maybe Pete and the Cap could both do it and then showcase them to each other on camera. I know Rob and Lee did one before with the Tele with the scalloped neck but really loved that video so would be cool to see another. Maybe with a bit more of the guitar work being done on camera... could be cool for all the people who are locked in their houses right now, gives us a project to keep busy with... keep up the great work regardless dudes, stay safe!
Yeah I love that video, I’ve probably watched it 5 times 😬. Modding is so much fun but expensive. Would be fun to see them do it again.
THE CREAM (of ANDERTONS )busting the bank!
"Let's talk about specs .... baby, let's talk about you and me." Seemed like Pete was going to start that song for a second.
So, I'm lucky enough to own a 1958 strat and it's incredible. But I've never played a CS strat. Worth a go? How close is it too the real thing? I can't help thinking I could sell mine, buy a CS, and have a fat wodge of change...
How much to buy all the pedals on Pete's board new?
I'm off to rob some parking meters .............
