- The 'Ask A Butler' panel took place on Sunday at Dragon Con 2014 in Atlanta, GA, hosted by Red World Con Casting. Con attendees asked Kuroshitsuji (Black Butler) characters (the panelists) questions and gave them dares.

First, 'shotacon' is artwork or manga often depicting a sexual relationship between young boys or between a young boy and an adult. Hence, 'shota' usually refers to a young boy in an artwork or manga who is in a sexual relationship with another young boy or an adult. Since there is a lot of shotacon Black Butler fanfiction on the Internet written by fans, this is most likely why the girl was asking this question and why Sebastian was covering Ciel's ears.

Ah, well I watch the anime. As is obvious, the creators of the Black Butler anime wrote themselves into a corner that would be impossible to get out of, hence "Book of Circus" does not follow that story line, but more of the manga story. Which also means there will be many differences between the two types. So, I may be correct and at the same time you may be as well. It depends on which story line you follow, that's all.

Well, it doesn't say it straight-out, but, even if they're shemale or whatever, there is no visible proof of that. But there's no proof of full male either. I'd go into more detail, but you never know what age the people are who look at this debate. But, I guess this debate is useless. Only the creators of Black Butler themselves can be sure.

I've read the manga, and Yana doesn't say that reapers are genderless. I think Yana was asked at some point (correct me if I'm wrong, anyone) if female reapers exist in her world and she said yes, so that indicates to me that reapers have gender (this is confirmed in the most recent manga chapter). From the fight between Sebastian and Grell in the Jack the Ripper arc (in the manga and anime), it seems to be made clear that Grell is originally male but wants to be female/seen as female. However, that doesn't necessarily mean that Grell's obsession with Sebastian means s/he's gay. But it doesn't mean s/he isn't either. I think that bit is really up to interpretation and really depends on one's definition of gay.

I'm freaking out. I watched this about two years ago, when I was absolutely in love with Black butler because it was new to me. Now, while rewatching this, I realize that there's a Nepeta. I got into the Homestuck fandom about six months ago and I'm still in love with it. I started freaking out about three times in the first ten minutes and then calmed. Then I saw how many people had Doctor Who related stuff.
