My Dad found an engine and a set of frame rails and created/restored a 1907 or 1909 International Harvester Farm Wagon. He had to hand roll a new sheet metal hood and fenders. He recreated wooden spoked wheels from scratch and a set of metal wheel hubs, including putting rubber solid carriage tires on them. The crank was not on the front, but on the driver's side running board. It had a transverse flat opposed 2-cylinder boxter air cooled engine. Leather or fabric belts drove air cooling fans. He cheated on the engine a little. The pistons were 5" wide with a 5" stroke, so he put a 2 to 1 reduction on the starter crank and a snap over magneto to make it easier to start. Carborators were not too advanced then. You can see primer cups and their valves on the heads. You can see the shifter to the right of the driver. It went back and forth for forward and reverse and up and down for high and low gear. Accelerator and engine timing were on the steering wheel. Brake pedals and clutch on the floorboard and a parking brake lever. The clutch was normally disengaged. You pushed forward to engage the clutch. A ratchet and pawl kept it engaged with a kick lever on the pedal to release it. The differential was behind and under the front seat with chain drive to the wheels for improved ground clearance. It had a polished brass carbide gas generator and headlights.
It had black sheet metal, a green wood truck box and trim, black leather button tuck upholstering, and Chinese red spokes on the wheels.
It was everybody's favorite and often spent time lugging through Wathena, Kansas, loaded with aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. We lost track of it after it was sold, but believe we saw a listing for it in Hemmings in Washington or Oregon.

They are such a smooth driving vehicle. They just glide across the ground and roads. Very nice looking and sounding truck.
