What a wonderful thought provoking message for the start of a new year. 2022 has been a very life changing year for me Booth bad but by the grace of God mostly good. Thank you Father for the cleansing blood of our Lord and Savior Jesus. I have such a profound love for Pastor Swindoll. His teaching is from God as a gift to us. Thank you Pastor. You ooze with wisdom and love.
We must admit we were somewhat distracted by all the wheezing and coughing in the building. One after another and kids too… it is discouraging that after all we have been though and deaths all over, Christians still feel compelled to go to church sick, bring their kids to church sick and not even try to mitigate mass spread… it is sanctimonious and foolish.
Isn't it interesting that whwn we point one finger at someone else we have three pointing back at ourselves. Sadly the last two words of your "comment" says it all.
"it is discouraging that . . . Christians still feel compelled to go to church sick" . . . so, you assume ALL people who wheez and cough are sick with a virus? Could it not just be old age? Or seasonal allergies? Or a sore throat from the cold? Hebrews 10:24-25 says: "And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another-and all the more as you see the Day approaching." It is discouraging that it seems like you are more than willing give up meeting by the mere sound of people "wheezing and coughing". Should we make wise decisions to steward the body well individually and collectively? Absolutely. Should we throw stones online from hearing wheezing and coughing on the live stream? Probably not. How does your comment "spur one another on toward love and good deeds" like you are called to do? Was it "sanctimonious and foolish" that Jesus touched lepers and spent time with the sick? The Pharisees thought so. @@jacemackera700 my preacher friend thought like you did, went to a church meeting, caught Covid and died. You and so many in the mainstream Christian religion Cherry pick the easiest aspect on the Christian walk… getting together, as make it like an issue of salvation if you go to chapel on Sunday. I would caution what you define as assembly in the NT context with the mega churches of today. Fellowship in these buildings can be isolating even while there are thousands around you. There is no accountability and no church discipline as people shop around. You know that and I know that. I preached on this a while ago. “Ez part of the walk verses the hard.” Sitting down in a pew on Sunday for an hour or so is the easy part… we believe in small local fellowships with meaning. And for crying out load… if you sick, stay home. We don’t want your cold, flu or Covid-19’s. You will not be needed or missed if you stay home. I would discipline any family who came to church sick with a warning not to do it again. Asymptomatic spread is one thing, going to church and coughing on everyone is another.
@@royowings3435 my point was stay home of your sick! You disagree? We should spread our viruses and misery with everyone in the congregation on purpose? Is that wise?
I Love this man. He redirected my soul to be saved :) 🙏🏼 Thank you Chuck. Thank you JESUS!
