I have stopped drinking completely for this reason, although I do wish I was able to have a couple drinks every now and again without having to feel terrible, and lose an entire day after. Oh well, I guess 🤷🏻♀️

So for the past maybe 3 years i started noticing the changes, at one point I could hang til 2 am completely shit face and work the next morning now I cannot stand a hangover and have to take breaks between days. Truly thought I’d always be the lil dude to outdrink everyone around but goddamn it’s not the same . Still love drinking, drunkish now (3:52am) but somethings gotta give 😅😢 not proofreading sorry if some doesn’t make sense 😂🤭

Dude. Hard exercise. The harder the better. If you’re hungover exercise until your shirt is drenched in sweat. Rehydrate. Cured. Ready to drink again. Highly functioning alcoholic for many years here.
For the hangxiety, alcohol increases GABA which is like hand brake for neurons. Once that wears off glutamate network goes into overdrive. This increases neural activity, can even cause seizures... This is a big part of the hangxiety
One time, I was chugging red bull while drinking to stay awake. The next day I got this huge acute depression. It was worse than any hangover I ever had in my life.
Hydration before, during and after drinking is the most important, followed by potassium. Taking a vitamin B complex before and the next day also helps with metabolizing the alcohol. Lastly, electrolytes, sodium in particular.
The cold exposure is so true! Being from South Africa, our holidays were always in beautiful beach places and nature areas. when I was younger I would go for a night out during the holidays. The next day we would all meet to go to a waterfall, the ocean or some cold water source because the heat of the day and the hangover wouldn’t mix well. After the swim the hangover would be much better. So interesting to hear the science behind it thank you Andrew!
why are my hangovers so inconsistent like going without eating or drinking water and drink so much i throw up to barely hungover to drinking relatively light to being so hungover i’m in pain shaking and throwing up
I used to be able to drink as much as I wanted and I'd be OK the next day - I could go to work for example. Nowadays if I have one drink I feel tired the next day, if I have a binge I feel terrible for 5 days.
I take alprazolam sometimes. I had a particularly lbad hangover last week decided to take it. It backfired and I felt worse. They call it a paradoxical reaction where it does the opposite effect
I had a half a slice of lemon. I had some essential oils. I put two drops of grapefruit oil in and one drop of lime, essential oil, black pepper, some turmeric powder and then I’m doing some organic castor oil on my right side under my ribs. yes putting a bunch of castor oil on my liver gallbladder, I also heard drinking pickle juice can help remember back in the day they used to be all of pickles everywhere my families functions friends and neighbors have get together and people would always eat pickles and olives and sauerkraut. What else is good Think it was called Japanese pear 🍐 juice. They come in capsules so many correct me I can’t remember what it was actually called the plant name..
I was under the impression hangovers are at their worst in the morning because the liver has converted the ethanol to oxidative byproducts during the the night, and switches to the methyl/ formyl products by morning. This creates formaldehyde and the majority of the pain (Along with all the other factors). Having a beer in the morning puts ethanol back into ADH as the preferred substrate (instead of MeOH), so there is some pain relief while ADH churns away on its least preferential substrate in the background. I can understand if you don't want to get into these details, but this is very old kinetic information.

Having alcohol on hangover does not cause worse hangover. You can have one or two beers during the day and you will feel much better and certainly not be hungover the next day
Good stuff. Zinc + magnesium tablet washed down with Gatorade zero, before and after drinking followed with a multivitamin and breakfast works well for me.
In the moment itself you might 'feel' sober, but are actually not sober at all. Of course, this depends on the definition of sober. But it definitely doesn't make the alcohol from your blood magically disappear. When I used to smoke and drink and we had to run from a guard or the cops, I was definitely feeling really sharp after it happened and in the moment.
@@youart9797 bro go search on wikipedia what adrenaline is, it is a hormone in our bodies that gets activated when shit gets real, for ex. a fight or flight response, those situations can get you to feel less drunk

You might however, still feel a bit shady, but you should be coming back to this comment and thanking me for not losing a day to dying regrets. You're welcome.
Vitamin B12 is the key. It's a cofactor for etoh dehydrogenase and aldehyde dehydrogenase. That plus aspirin and fish oil reduces the inflammation and boom hangover cured
So there’s some studies refuting that alcohol is a diuretic and that dehydration is a symptom of hangovers. Your mouth is dry the next day because the alcohol is literally drying out the mucus membranes in your mouth. They found that people had normal electrolyte levels the next day.. just think, a hangover is nothing like being stranded in the desert for four days with no water. And for all the urinating you do, they found it’s about the same as if you drank a similar amount of water.. think 12oz beer and 12oz water
vasoconstriction from cold exposure is your bodies natural response to adapt to the change in body temperature. the thing is, there are a number of different mechanisms that are activated from cold exposure, all of which aren't induced by poison. instead those mechanisms are induced by your bodies reaction to different stimuli. long story short, when vasoconstriction in your brain is caused by poison it's going to lead to a headache because, well it's poison. take my statement with a grain of salt of course as I'm not a scientist.
Most likely because cold exposure results in cutaneous vasoconstriction while alcohol results in cerebral vasoconstriction... But idk for sure. Also, cold exposure has vastly more effects than just vc so those other effects are likely responsible for the headache relief
50+ yrs binging, hair of dog or amphetamines (not recommended) or narcotics if it last more than a day. It takes 5 to 6 days to get rid of a good hangover. I recommend 5-6 hot Epsom salt baths as hot as you can stand it and drinking 3,4 or 5 bottles of water while in the tub each time, sleeping between soaking. Time is the best healer.
I'm not sure how it took me so long to find your wisdom sooner especially since we come from similar backgrounds and demographic profiles. I have had many hangovers and I'm only 25. Let me tell you, waking up and drinking to cure your hangover is NOT the answer. It led me to a really bad habit and turned me in to an alcoholic. Its destroyed my health and only made the hangover worse later on. Trust me and just ride it out. Lots of water, showers and rest. Also not drinking regularly has helped me not have bad hangovers. I now drink about once a week, i drank last night, and i almost have no hangover today.
From my experience, the alcohol creates insomnia. Get 30 minutes of good exercise each day, turn the lights down one hour before bed, don’t eat anything three hours before bed, and abstain from alcohol for 30 days. Try it as an experiment and see how your insomnia is doing.
I was 8 days into my withdrawal with not a second of sleep. Full blown DTs for days. I caved and pounded 2 tall steel reserves, just so I could sleep. Hell
Well I had been drinking 5 of those 24 oz 8% ones, without eating food for days and days. Only to crash and withdrawal bad as hell, then to feel better 5 days later. Just to repeat it all over again. So after all the years of doing that every fuckin week, I’m assuming that when I got deathly ill, and I just couldn’t drink at all, like full rejection, my body was like yep you’ve got alcohol induced insomnia. I went fuckin nuts, and it was the most painful thing ever. I sipped on those two steel reserves for a few hours until they were gone, but dude that’s all it took for me to pass out, no food or sleep for 8 days. Just staring at the ceiling seeing shit, I swear I felt better with every sip!
This vid is 24hrs too late 🥳🥴 Though I did drink a water with a sports drink tablet 💪and a fried bacon sandwich, with brown sauce ofcourse. Interestingly I did experience anxiety today , thought I maybe heading towards a panic attack 😬 but feel better now 🙂 Ps I'm never drinking again !!!
It's called "the hair of the dog" because that's what you would do if you turned into a werewolf. You'd have to eat the hair of the dog that bit you. Kinda dumb, but it reverses the effects of "lycanthropy." BTW, not a doctor, do not take this advice.
It’s the hair off the dog that bit you. Think an old medicine term. Taking a hair of the dog that bit you and putting it in a potion to treat the wound
Jump in a pool the morning after and you will feel better. I do this when i drink and stay at resorts . Literally it will take away most of the hangover effects
my experience with hangxiety its to pop a few benzoodiazapines and beta-blocker for vaso-dialation but talk with your doc before doing so it may be unsafe and im no doc so talk to your doctor about hanxiety remedies
I have to confess, being in my early 30s now, I cannot stomach alcohol anymore the way I did in my early 20s. It feels much shittier and also takes longer to recover. I avoid dark liquor altogether and drinking >2 beers on any given night binge.
What I do is chug 1L of water in between my binging episode with a serving of electrolytes (which include salt, potassium, magnesium, and calcium). Then 1L of water before bedtime. I’ll usually wake up 2-3 times during the night, but hangover isn’t as bad. Quality of sleep is obviously shit, but you deal with that the next day and stick with fasting and eating only fruits.
Maybe you should have titled the video, "I explain what a hangover is for those who have never had a hangover, then I drone on and on by explaining what's going on in your body during a hangover" Every dumb "hangover cure" article with a headline about "curing" a hangover ends by saying "the best cure is not to drink at all". This video is a step below those that mainly because of the false advertising in the title. If the title would have been something along the lines of what I stated above then at least you'd have some truth in advertising and an "E" for effort.
why is there never a straight damn answer like.."I´ve been drinking, I want to cleanz my gut..I drink this right after".. ? or... "drink this before you have intakes of alcohol.." ?
@@scottmcgrane4619 I guess I should clarify. For me, I have a sore neck from years of staring at screens. After a night of drinking, after sleep, my neck feels better. Like a got better sleep for that particular pain. I wonder when people look at the data, does it say "this is 100% true" or does it say "this is true in most people"? Know what I mean?
This is kind of all wrong and not helpful. The basic premise is alcohol breaks down into acetaldehyde which is toxic. If you're liver cant keep up with removing it in first pass metabolism, it can reach the brain and other body parts which causes histamine and bradykinin release leading to inflammation and vasodilation. Best way to remove this inflammatory toxin is to increase your urine out by drinking more water, and then to use NSAIDs like ibuprofen and antihistamines like Benadryl (if you're ok with being tired). Excedrin is also good as the caffeine can help with vasodilation in the brain but you don't want to overdue it since there's aspirin and it can cause bleeding
Hair of the dog came from the idea that if you get bit by a dog, take a little bit of hair and mix it into some water or tea or whatever and that could prevent you from catching rabies if a dog has rabies that’s what I’ve heard. I don’t know how far back that goes but in a long time.
Hair of the dog come from the idea that when you take a drink of what you drank last night it will help your hang over and the saying is "taking a bite of the dog that bit ya".
What about japanese, italians and Spaniards? They regularly drink but in moderation and are healthier and live longest? Can huberman explain this to us
If someone has a hangover, they don't want to sit through about 10-15 minutes of the video for you to get around to the answer of how to cure a hangover. For heaven's sake!!!
A lot of this is talking in circles Having studied this subject as a Professional drinker lol If you want good advice. Time is more the key, Next day Pedialite and not eating until later evening helps. Usually a salty broth ie chicken noodle soup One good point is unrest. Having consumed a lot your brain will pass out but you don't rest. What happens when you stop drinking heavily you have crazy dreams, and sweat a lot. That phase moves into the next day your brain is able to rest Usually a lot of drool on pillow when you get a normal night of rest. I haven't found anything that can stop hang over or it's duration, is it harmfu?l, Yes. Honest part of life is there is no benefits from it. Trust me I know.
I don't think Andrew drinks... doesn't know what the "hair of the dog" is? Doesn't know people aren't cold plunging while drunk for hangovers, but rather after? No discussion on the different effects of responsible drinking vs binge drinking? Andrew makes a lot of great content, but this is a subject he needs to study further.

Hell
@@Vilebodypart Eight days of no sleep!?
I hope they were the 40oz High Gravity Lagers.
I'm on day 3 throwing up after a real bad binge drinking... Slowly getting better 1st two days was death smh:.. Any tips?
This vid is 24hrs too late 🥳🥴
Though I did drink a water with a sports drink tablet 💪and a fried bacon sandwich, with brown sauce ofcourse.
Interestingly I did experience anxiety today , thought I maybe heading towards a panic attack 😬 but feel better now 🙂
Ps I'm never drinking again !!!
It's called "the hair of the dog" because that's what you would do if you turned into a werewolf. You'd have to eat the hair of the dog that bit you.
Kinda dumb, but it reverses the effects of "lycanthropy."
BTW, not a doctor, do not take this advice.
Hanziety or as we say in Scotland The FEAR 😅😅😅
Ok, so if Nsaids are bad for you then what do I take for a headache?
2:41 i had 3, 750 ml beers. And one 500 ml. And sleep is disrupted
It’s the hair off the dog that bit you. Think an old medicine term. Taking a hair of the dog that bit you and putting it in a potion to treat the wound
I used to drink to forget, but I can't remember what about. How do I reverse this?
How about a good run the next morning. Always worked for me.
easier said that done but u are probably right
Jump in a pool the morning after and you will feel better. I do this when i drink and stay at resorts . Literally it will take away most of the hangover effects
Been of alcohol for 3 months straight and for a falks of 21 years old was good! Now I’m having a hangover last night(no drunk btw) thanks
The myth of people surviving cold due to intoxication is probably a combination of survivorship bias & subjectivity.
On my third bottle of drambuie😢ive struggled my whole life. I despise what it does to my looks
my experience with hangxiety its to pop a few benzoodiazapines and beta-blocker for vaso-dialation but talk with your doc before doing so it may be unsafe and im no doc so talk to your doctor about hanxiety remedies
Alcohol gets me so sick. I just don't drink.
I have to confess, being in my early 30s now, I cannot stomach alcohol anymore the way I did in my early 20s. It feels much shittier and also takes longer to recover. I avoid dark liquor altogether and drinking >2 beers on any given night binge.
I agree, my body can't handle alcohol like it use to
What I do is chug 1L of water in between my binging episode with a serving of electrolytes (which include salt, potassium, magnesium, and calcium). Then 1L of water before bedtime.
I’ll usually wake up 2-3 times during the night, but hangover isn’t as bad. Quality of sleep is obviously shit, but you deal with that the next day and stick with fasting and eating only fruits.
sauna and toxin release?
take NAC BEFORE DRINKING AND A PRODUCT NAMED BREATHE X ( BOTH AVAILABLE AMAZON ) HANGOVERS CUT IN 1/2 OR 3/4
Why don’t you get hungover when you’re younger? In my first year drinking I just didn’t get them 18-19
Maybe you should have titled the video, "I explain what a hangover is for those who have never had a hangover, then I drone on and on by explaining what's going on in your body during a hangover" Every dumb "hangover cure" article with a headline about "curing" a hangover ends by saying "the best cure is not to drink at all". This video is a step below those that mainly because of the false advertising in the title. If the title would have been something along the lines of what I stated above then at least you'd have some truth in advertising and an "E" for effort.
why if it will too cold can give heart attack?
Dihydromyrecetin, look into it.
The best way to cure a hangover is by not drinking. Any perceived benefits of alcohol are as I just stated, perceived.
Fun is a pretty objective benefit though
Booo
True
why is there never a straight damn answer like.."I´ve been drinking, I want to cleanz my gut..I drink this right after".. ? or... "drink this before you have intakes of alcohol.." ?
I feel like I get better sleep after a night of drinking. Is that possible in some people?
No
@@scottmcgrane4619 I guess I should clarify. For me, I have a sore neck from years of staring at screens. After a night of drinking, after sleep, my neck feels better. Like a got better sleep for that particular pain.
I wonder when people look at the data, does it say "this is 100% true" or does it say "this is true in most people"? Know what I mean?
Why are there people who don't get hangovers even if they drink a ton?
The best medicin is
Never drink again. No hangovers anymore
Booo
True
It's the hair of the dog that bit you. Taking a small amount of Alcohol to combat the hangover. Consuming alcohol should be a criminal offence.
Citrulline malate works amazingly well for me. I imagine because it's a super hydrator.
I find cucumber water and hot bathes do the trick. I refuse to get into cold water. I saw Titanic. No, thank you. Lol!
Watching this gave me a massive headache…
GABA gummies help the hanxiety a ton!
“Take some fluff of the dog who bit you.”
What about japanese, italians and Spaniards? They regularly drink but in moderation and are healthier and live longest? Can huberman explain this to us
wow just put video starts at 14:50 or whatever
Hahaha this!! ☝️☝️☝️
2 drinks and you’re fine again, works every time
Hair of the dog = Pliney the Elder came up with a cure for rabies in which you clip the hair from the tail of the rabid dog that bit you.
If someone has a hangover, they don't want to sit through about 10-15 minutes of the video for you to get around to the answer of how to cure a hangover. For heaven's sake!!!
Watch it upfront for next time 😂
Prior preparation prevents piss poor performance 💯
This video was made for people to watch ahead of time to prepare for a future hangover
If you are hangover and you want to watch this video, you are not hangover for real :)))
Lol
I prefer to call it "Alconoia"....alcohol induced paranoia 🍻
Halloween got me bad
Now I know why Joe Rogan really has an ice bath
the electrolyte before bed 100% works
A lot of this is talking in circles
Having studied this subject as a
Professional drinker lol
If you want good advice.
Time is more the key,
Next day Pedialite and not eating until later evening helps. Usually a salty broth ie chicken noodle soup
One good point is unrest. Having consumed a lot your brain will pass out but you don't rest.
What happens when you stop drinking heavily you have crazy dreams, and sweat a lot.
That phase moves into the next day your brain is able to rest
Usually a lot of drool on pillow when you get a normal night of rest.
I haven't found anything that can stop hang over or it's duration, is it harmfu?l, Yes. Honest part of life is there is no benefits from it. Trust me I know.
I hate it here 😢🤮🤢
im too hungover to listen to this. hair of the dog it is.
Watching this whilst still drunk 😂 good luck tomorrow me !
Sauna?
hair of the dog: how to treat a dog bite? use the hair of the dog.
