Another amazing Portly review 🥰🤯👍! Awesome work as always! I find the 96% keyboard to look a little busy and cramped for me and my use. It’s great to see versatility and variety of the keyboards on the market catering to the needs of everyone 🥰👍🥳😉
so i just got this keyboard on a whim yesterday (typing on it right now), i was kinda skeptical but i really and enjoying this. Still getting used to typing on this compact-ish style.
This is the only keyboard I could find with all these features: wireless, white, can pair with 3 bluetooth PCs or wired or 2.4ghz dongle, pass through USB, mechanical, RGB. Couldn't find anything else that checks all these boxes.
Honestly these things are pretty unique, so I think Royal Kludge is probably the only one out there who does this at a great price (correct me if I'm wrong) but they do have the RK84 (80%, 3 modes, 5 bluethooth devices I think, mech, RBG). Surprised me too but out of all I think I'll be getting RK100 for the sheer convenience of F keys and the num pad at such a good price.
you could flip the coil over to face the left so it doesn't get in the way, thanks for the review though! building this as a custom with durock silent linears and also might try out durock v2 stabs if they fit, it'll be for my gf so hopefully she loves it!
I use this keyboard for the PlayStation and like it quite a bit. The USB ports on the back let me use my mouse while still keeping controllers plugged in for charging.
I am a total noob on this kind of stuff. My bf is building me a computer right now and I have been looking for the perfect keyboard, but there is so much information about building your own that I did not know where to start, esp for this specific sound I am looking for lol. This is a great review and I am going to buy this one. It seems like a great starter keyboard where I can play around and try different things before investing hundreds in one I want to build. Thank you!!!!! Edit....I just checked and it is sadly sold out right now :(
@@Portly That's probably what I'll end up doing. I would still like to help support in some way, so I will make sure to use your affiliate links for parts and accessories!
You could've plug in the USB-C cable the other side and the coil would have gone to the left :) I actually need the USB out to be on the right otherwise the cable interferes with the foot of my display.
I got this bad boy in black with blue switches, and you're not wrong about the switches not being the best. They're not as clicky as the Gateron G Pro 2.0 blues in my GMMK, and it may just be me, but it seems to miss the occasional input, which given the otherwise great typing experience, I'm going to chalk up to the switches. I got a pack of Kailh Box Navies coming in a few days, so that should fix that issue. Also, the RGB isn't as bright as on my GMMK, which is a bummer, but I've never really been HUGE on RGB, so that's easily taken care of by replacing the keycaps with something that hide that problem.
I just got my rk100 and I have to say both the keycaps and switches and really really bad, you might wanna replace all keycaps and switches, and it has no foam like rk68 and rk84. The keyboard feels no where heavier than rk84 considering it’s bigger. I bought rk100 because I own a rk84 and really liked it and want something with a numpad but rk100 isn’t identical to rk84.
@@JoelHernandez-tz3vk If you want to get rk100, definitely need to replace all switches and all keycaps, unless you are okay with loose keycaps and switches, so you can add that as part of the cost as well. but rk84 is very decent.
@@NoMoreMeSuger The last keyboard I looked at is the Epomaker SK96S. Is there a reason for me not to get that? And if I get that. Are the upgrade to PBT keycaps for $9 more a must as well? Seems like a cheap upgrade but I have no idea what the difference between ABS and PBT is feel wise.
@@NoMoreMeSuger Gateron optical yellow or silver? Been told by many that the sweetspot for actuation force is 45g which is the silver switch vs yellow's 35g. But I never heard anyone about switches being too easy to activate by accident.
The RK84 is my daily use board, but i would love to get my hands on one of these RK100s. Sadly they are only available on import in my region, and for almost $200...YIKES!!! Just stumbled onto your page, but the videos are great!
I bought mine off Amazon and it came with Gateron clears. I've had no issues with that board minus the low weight switches, I really want to swap them out for blacks or yellows.
Yup, it's like the amazing Magic Keyboard, they are close to each other (just getting used to). But you need the keypad for planes on GTA 5 :-) God bless.
For mechanical keyboard, the space between keys should usually be about the same. Only differences might be the size of some specific keys, usually on the bottom row or toward the right side of the keyboard for layouts like this one
thanks i am glad i discovered this keyboard bc I was about to get 104 keyboard bc I don't know they had this one....the 104 key looks ugly bc the outline of the keyboard is black
great review! im planning to get this, but im worried i might not find keycaps to change it with that will fit this keyboard, especially since you pointed out the shift bar and alt, fn. Would you have any recommendations for keycaps that would fit this? i dont know what to type in when i google keycaps for this TT
Mine came with the delete key way up on the top right above the keypad... who would ever reach that far for a delete key? Thankfully we can switch caps and reprogram with software. But if it resets, gets confusing.
I got one its nice but mine is a bit different it doesn't have a little area for the usb dongle or the two usb passthrough ports next to the usb-c port and it doesn't have the led indicators the numlock and capslock just light up and for the wireless connections are Q and P also the pop out feet you have I dont they just gave me some magnetic feet and the bottom is just flat and aluminum and there's no sticker on the back just its just laser etched instead its still a nice keyboard just a bit different from yours but other than some of the differences its still a good budget keyboard and its also not on their website, I actually found this because I was confused about why mine wasn't on anywhere other than amazon.
How long is the playtime of rk100? Because I think mine is defective. I can only use it for a day or two. Like today, I charged it in the morning, used it for work the whole 8 hours or more, and it's battery drained at night.
I think so. When I bought my RK100 for work 14hours a day, the battery drains after 7days. Charging it now and I don’t know how long it will take the battery drains from fully charged
If it’s for school and you need certain keys, get the rk100. You won’t want to fidget around with macros and function keys that might slow down your work
The only I know of that should have the small 0 on the number pad are Akko keycaps. There may be others but these are the only I know of and they’re good quality for the price. I would just got for their ASA profile, not cherry, because of the north facing switches. Could make the middle row sound weird if you get cherry profile.
