If it's you're first guitar it'll be more worth it to get the standard size so that you'll get the full tone of a guitar. I have a standard size taylor guitar but I always go for my little martin whenever I go to my friends' house, travel to different places or just wanna play the guitar on my couch. The sound is not that bad considering that this guitar is really small. But wait till you plug this on an amp, it would sound really amazing. This little martin is definitely my "grab and go" guitar.
Not sure if you are active on here to see this question, but have your thoughts changed on this at all? I'm not a dreadnought fan, so looking for a smaller guitar. Still learning myself and it'd be my first acoustic (I have a full size, nice electric). I'm debating between a Little Martin or something like an Ibanez AC3400. The martin i can get used for cheaper than i can get a new ac3400, but maybe it's worth getting a full concert body guitar over a travel 3/4 guitar. The main purpose of my acoustic would be to take around the house, outside, etc. I have my electric to sit and play plugged in. Thanks for any advice
That little Martin! I went to the store to purchase a baby Taylor for my 10 yr. old daughter. My mind was already made up into Taylor. I got to Guitar Center and to the acoustic room. So, I don’t know much about guitars and I played the baby Taylor. But, there was a little Martin with the spruce top almost next to it. So, I played it a couple of times. I ended up liking The Little Martin better. But, wait there is more. On the used guitar section there was a LXM. The HPL top and sides. So, I played the LXM and I thought it sounded even better than the spruce top. It was 1/2 the cost. So, ended up buying the LXM. I did everything I could to stay away from Martin guitars. But, after owning the LXM for a while I kept going back to it. After owning several Yamaha’s, 2 of them all solid and luxury. The little Martin kept whispering into my ear. So, I got a GPX1A, later. D 16. Boom, boom! That guitar is something else. So, after fighting so hard to stay away from Martin and become a Taylor Yamaha I finally have in. A Martin tone lover for ever!
I've had a Baby Taylor Mahogany for around six years. Sounds pretty good with a nice ring to it. It's small enough to fit into most overhead luggage, tuners are good, comes with a nice gigbag, the pocket can fit a decent amount of extras and has been subjected to humidity fluctuations, laying out in the sun, being stuck in the trunk, freezing cold, sand and even being dropped a few times. I have had to adjust the truss rod a number of times, but it's still playing like a champ.
When I tested both these guitars at a shop, I liked he midrange of the Taylor, but highs and lows sounded better in the Martin, the Martin was more expensive though, so hard to choose. I suspect resale will be better on the Martin, just because it's less "girly".
Speaking for me personally, I would give the nod to the Ed Sheeran Martin. First of all, because I am a guy, and the scrolling artwork on the Taylor Swift model doesn't really do anything for me; it is a distraction. The big, bold X of the Sheeran model reminds me of an old cartoon with the battled scarred character with X Shaped bandaids covering their wounds from a fight. So an Ed Sheeran LX1E may be in my future. Thanks for the review, and as a fellow Texan, "Remember the Alamo!!"
Hi there! I need you opinion badly. Can i use light strings on LX1e? I believe it has a medium gauge strings but its really hard and tough to play.. What can you suggest?
i got a baby taylor and love it because you can unscrew the neck . goes in my rucksack carefully wrapped and take it on a plane for holidays.no questions asked. actions a little high at 14th but i tend to play first 6 frets anyhow
You made me start crying when you told me that 50 stratocasters were killed for each lil Sheeran Martin made. It's even raining here today. I'm now going to go coddle my strat. It's shivering over in the corner. Thanks for ruining our day... :-)
Played both, love both...I bought the 3/4 Taylor, love the ebony fretboard. Everyone will have a unique opinion but both are winners and a hoot to play.
I actually own both of these. I find myself using the taylor way more than the martin. The strumming sounds better to me. The only thing I hate about the martin is the neck is a little to thick.
I like the Taylor. I’ve never been a big fan of Martin. I’ve seen seagulls which are better than martins for a fraction of the price. While their low end ones suck ass. Taylor has nice low end ones despite price. I have a 214ce
On finance from the GuitarGuitar website! I didn't know you could do that till the other day it's amazing, I still can't believe I have one😅 I'll never be over it.♡
I played an Ed Sheeran LX1E for an hour or so on the weekend. I wasn't expecting much but I was very pleasantly surprised.Lovely to play with a nice warm sound. it's never going to replace a full size guitar but in it's own right it is a wonderful instrument. I also tried a Taylor GS Mini and can't for the life of me understand what all the fuss is about.
Both guitars are nice a bit more treble on the Taylor, but I don’t like the way Taylor screws the neck on these guitars? Looks incredibly cheap and amateur, that’s the only reason I went with the Martin? It seems to be a better built.
I've played them all (actually almost all) and can say conclusively that the Sheeran X sucks badly. If I were Ed Sheeran I'd be embarrassed to have my name on that POS. The LX1E not as badly and cheaper than the X. While I've not played the Taylor "Swift" model really like the Big Baby Taylor SO much better than the Martins. In any event, none of them can compete in sound to a full size (decent) guitar and sound more like a muffled Mouse-Guitar (remember Jimmy's bass uke?).
link fight 'Cause I hate the notion of ripping people off through marketing. BTW- I did play the Taylor Swift model two days ago. $319?? Seriously? It probably cost $20 to make and $50 to Taylor to use her name and the rest was profit at the distribution and retail levels. Sheeran X? I'm sure Ed gets a cut as well as a "contribution" to some foundation or charity. You want to spend your hard earned money on crap, go right ahead. But I gotta call it as I see it.

Ed sheeran in my opinion tone and has a different body Taylor swift bt is near identical tonely to standard bt and ed sheeran guitar means × but I taylor is made to promote Taylor
My god that guy pisses me off... leaving aside the fact that all he flipping played was some country shit, he's just not funny and it was trying to be a comedy sketch rather than an actual review or comparison
I have the LX1E but just the straight version - can't stand that godawful blue for the insets. Ghastly. The LX has a lovely warm tone which often doesn't come across in UA-cam demos. I use Elixir 10/47's.
Put the Martin against the Taylor GS mini. And say something about the sound of the guitars. Taylor has an ajustable neck. Lower action is nice for beginners. This dude is funny, but thats all.
The Ed Sheeran is warmer. I think it wins.
Peter Day it wins ! I have it !
To be honest it really depends on ur music style... Both of them are great guitars

The Martin to my ears sounds better. I don't like the design on the Taylor guitar or the screwheads showing.

Robert Jones agreed
Robert Jones Your grammar is impeccable!
Are you talking about "Rurouni Kenshin" anime?

"Shouldn't Taylor's guitar have 8 x's on them?"
Savage 😂
+Just an ordinary gamer SAVAGE ASF XDDDD
+Just an ordinary gamer LEGENDARY lol
REKT
This reviewer is a legend. HAHAHA!
Best line I've heard in any guitar review, ever.
If my name was 'Taylor' i'd play a Martin, it's just the way I roll. I'm a rebel.
My name is Martin. I play Gibson, Fender, Ibanez, Manson and ESP. I am bigger rebel since we are playing your game.
@@8170youngwilliam wow
So with that in mind, which one should I play? 😂
As a Taylor Swift super fan I was so disappointed she doesn’t have a signature Martin ToT
The Martin sounds muffled in comparison. Sustain on the Taylor is far superior
This is exactly why I went with a Taylor
Martin. Hands down! (LX1RE for me though. I’d never own a pop-star’s signature guitar)
the baby taylor looks fancy but i like the sounds of the x ed sheran's better. the ed's guitar looks too plain.
lemakeup13 I like the ed's guitar more but I don't like that green colored "martin" at the end am I right?
I like the Ed sheeran guitars sound more, as well as the x inlays. However, i am more im favour of the Taylor swift guitar body colour
lemakeup13 tone should come first for a guitar not looks
Honestly I had this on in the back ground and didn’t realize he was switching guitars. Just pick the one you like.
You made me start crying when you told me that 50 stratocasters were killed for each lil Sheeran Martin made. It's even raining here today. I'm now going to go coddle my strat. It's shivering over in the corner. Thanks for ruining our day... :-)
Just bought an lx1e 7 years later... Used to own that swify baby... Great in depth review
which one you find to be better?
@@alejandroblanco2154 Martin I think...
Played both, love both...I bought the 3/4 Taylor, love the ebony fretboard. Everyone will have a unique opinion but both are winners and a hoot to play.
I have so far attempted to build 3 guitars, all small body. Most sound quite similar, all this time I thought it was my lack of use of tonewoods
The x's are for his last album, 'Multiply'.
haayleymac EXACTLY
the x is for his album multiply
inee107 EXACTLY THIS GUY TRIGGERED ME SM
The multiply inlay is Koa, not mahogany.
Can I still get that little martin somewhere ? anywhere ? .. I love it but I cannot find any offers online
I actually own both of these. I find myself using the taylor way more than the martin. The strumming sounds better to me. The only thing I hate about the martin is the neck is a little to thick.
I have a baby Taylor and I love it. It is not from either star, just a plain one. But it sounds great and it very very nice.
this guy makes guitar reviews hilarious!!! Thx bro :D
I like the Taylor. I’ve never been a big fan of Martin. I’ve seen seagulls which are better than martins for a fraction of the price. While their low end ones suck ass. Taylor has nice low end ones despite price. I have a 214ce
The Taylor should have a lot of eX's on it.
Shouldn't Taylor's guitar have 8 x's on it😂😂 Genius
LMAO love the humor thrown into your review! So much more entertaining than most other reviewers. Love your work. Subscribed!
ed sheeran. i played it today and loved it
I just got the baby Taylor as my 2nd guitar, and I'm obsessed. It's perfect for me :)))))
Nice where did you get yours?
On finance from the GuitarGuitar website! I didn't know you could do that till the other day it's amazing, I still can't believe I have one😅 I'll never be over it.♡
Just for the record Mr Sherran has moved away from Martin and now has his own brand made by Loden .
Of course. Financially, this was probably a good decision for him.
I was hoping there wouldn't be as much superficial fluff in this review.
It's alright. btw the x is solid koa. the back and sides are a high pressure laminate

EVERY ginger in thE world should deserve a point😊💕
Taylor all the way, played both and it feels and plays better!
You are friggin so funny 😂. I googled these two guitars as I’ve decided to get one , and i find this review . Made my day .
may i just ask what strings best fits them?? or what size of strings? thanks!!
Ronald Castillo Martin strings sound good on the Martin obviously. Not too sure on the taylor
Both guitars are nice a bit more treble on the Taylor, but I don’t like the way Taylor screws the neck on these guitars? Looks incredibly cheap and amateur, that’s the only reason I went with the Martin? It seems to be a better built.
Funny enough I got the BT and find it’s better for doing Ed Sheeran music than the little Martin lol.
Both
The Martin was warmer , smoother and clearer
The ed pic joke and taylor "x" joke was epic...
Also it's funny that Ed and Taylor are besties lol
I've played them all (actually almost all) and can say conclusively that the Sheeran X sucks badly. If I were Ed Sheeran I'd be embarrassed to have my name on that POS. OK thanks
+GeroLubovnik u dumb, boy
Just get a GS Mini Koa instead hehe
Nope, martin djr ftw
PLEASE COMPARE AND REVIEW THE PRS PARLOR P20 & P20E!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I CAN'T WAIT ANYMORE ARRRGRGRGRGRGRGHHHRHHHHHHHHH
They’re good for kids or players with tiny hands.
The X is Koa....also gingers are awesome...
I prefer the cort earth mini f
i won't pick any of the two. they sound so thin. better save for a standard sized guitar
+iban1228 yes, the sound cant even resonate well because of limited space, no depth in the sound
If it's you're first guitar it'll be more worth it to get the standard size so that you'll get the full tone of a guitar. Thats why its more of a travel guitar..
These aren't really meant to be your only guitar.
Every guitar you bring to travel is a travel guitar
Ed sheeran in my opinion tone and has a different body Taylor swift bt is near identical tonely to standard bt and ed sheeran guitar means × but I taylor is made to promote Taylor
Baby Taylor for the win.
This is one of your poorer reviews. It's more of a satire than an actual review.
great martin
Baby Taylor for me. Warmer, fuller sound. Another excellent vid Chris. You do superior reviews. Well done.
God i want one.. but.. no money :( i cry every time
this dude is sound
Martin
but I want is ed sheeran guitar
Taylor for me:)
The Ed Sheeran one wins it for me
Hey Chris!!!
- internet.
I actually like your humor ☺️☺️☺️
Ed Sheeran wins for me. Own the LX1 😁
The Martin wins, hands down
In person, it isn't that clear cut.
You could have compared 2 better guitar players and not just 2 pop stars. 💓💓🎸🎸.
Ed Sheeran is a good guitarist. So point to Ed.
Little martin just looks 100 times better in my opinion lol.
the x is koa not mahogany. I know cause I bought one otherwise a funny video
poocky100 yeah, it's a laminate Koa. My bad.
Alamo Music Center solid koa inlay
Different string guages!
Why would you throw two beautiful guitar down the buliding
To see which one is more durable of course.
I prefer the Little Martin. That said, I'd prefer to listen to Taylor Swift singing than to Ed Sheeran.
My god that guy pisses me off... leaving aside the fact that all he flipping played was some country shit, he's just not funny and it was trying to be a comedy sketch rather than an actual review or comparison
ed sheeran
Awesome review. 😂😂
I will take Eds Martin
I have the LX1E but just the straight version - can't stand that godawful blue for the insets. Ghastly.
The LX has a lovely warm tone which often doesn't come across in UA-cam demos. I use Elixir 10/47's.
I lost 9 minutos of my líderes watching this
WHOA If everyone likes a winner...and you didn't name a winner...are they both losers?
Sheeran wins... Recording King beats both.
Ur high if u don't think the taylor sounds better. Don't kid yourself.
this guy
my Taylor is rich lol
Not Sorry. Taylor has nothing on Martin. On any of their guitars.
wow ... that was ... a awful review
Dude is funny. Good comparison though. Would love to hear one played right after the other.
don't care who wins, but you got me laughing out loud several times. Point to Chris for that!
Best presenter ever.
both taylor swift and ed sheeran are not that "guitarist" they focus more on the voice...
A_Master GNU-Core True. Especially for Taylor. However Ed Sheeran does have a unique style in his guitar playing, especially with the looper pedal
This video is just a guy trying to be funny... But he's not...
Sam Armstrong That wasn't my point but yeah, idk it just sounds nicer and warmer. I like both though
Sam Armstrong That wasn't my point but yeah, idk it just sounds nicer and warmer. I like both though
You are funny.
Sorry Tay-Tay i am always comparing myself to the others about everything
A horrible guitar comparison video, and bad humor is a bonus.
what a shit video presentation..
Trop de bla...bla...
