Savatage is my all time favorite band. I can listen almost every record, and love every second of it. So, now that we are getting one last record, I couldn't be more hyped if possible.

8:22 Will this album be good or will it be Slipknot’s own Lulu (Metallica crashed and burned on that one, I’d love to hear it with only James’s parts).
OK, I'll bite. I am in agreement with Clown on the state of festivals. Download is the biggest in Britain, and I went most years between '13 & '19. But I have not once felt compelled to go back since. '13 was incredible. Iron Maiden, Slipknot and Rammstein headlining. Amazing first Download. But since then (and including '13) , Slipknot headlined 4 times, Maiden 3, A7X 3, and many others twice. I've long argued that Download needs to start taking chances on new bands. I always said that they should add a new band every year. Keep 2 legacy acts to add value for money, but 1 newer bad to keep things fresh. Otherwise you reach a point where the Legacy acts have all retired or died, and you have no experienced headline acts. And this happened in '24. Queens of the Stone Age and Fallout Boy (both new to headlining and both very unimpressive compared to the usual headline acts.) And A7X (experienced, but still young, far from a legacy act.) This was the most piss poor lineup i've ever seen and one that can be avoided. Seems like Download went from 1 extreme to another. 3 legacy bands who have done it a million times before and are predictable, to 3 newer bands who are fresher but also a bit on the boring side. And '25 will be the same. 3 New headliners, Green Day (who are an ok fit but don't inspire excitement), Sleep Token ( a young inexperienced flavor of the month kind of band) and KORN (who I have long said should have headlined and has long been overlooked as Download repeatedly picks their more popular Nu-Metal counterparts (Slipknot) instead.) And again, this could have been avoided. Korn should have headlined 10 years ago. And that would have helped cement them as a Download headlining staple. Likewise, bands like Limp Bizkit, Alter Bridge, Ghost, Bullet For My Valentine, Enter Shikari, Black Stone Cherry, Shinedown, Parkway Drive and Nightwish all have the ability to headline but have never been given a chance. And now I fear they never will because Download relied for too long on the legacy bands of the 70s and 80s, and are now in a state of desperation where they have to take a risk on '10s ad '20s bands like Sleep Token. And I can see other younger acts like Spiritbox, Bad Omens, Falling In Reverse and Architects getting the slots because they are the current popular bands, leaving a whole generation of 90s and 00s bands left behind. And when they go for this extreme, the £350 might be worth it to younger audiences who are happy to see their favourite tik tok bands. But for those of us used to paying £200 for Metallica, Prodigy and Black Sabbath (2012's headliners,) these new headliners are not worth the money and very meh. Can we not have both? I've been waiting for AC/DC to come back to Download. If '25 was AC/DC, Sleep Token and KORN, i'd have been significantly more interested. But likewise, If it was Slipknot, Def Leppard and KISS, i'd have been bored of the same bands doing it again. We need a much better balance. But I fear it's too late. And thats why I prefer smaller festivals like Bloodstock. They get new bands almost every year. And even on a year like next year where they haven't picked a single new band, they have at least picked bands that have experience and aren't playing every 2-3 years. ('25 is Trivium, last headlined '15, Machine Head, last headlined '12 and Gojira, last headlined '18.) I am a bit biased on that lineup as they are 3 of my favourite metal bands of all time, but also, these are genuinely 3 exciting bands who fit the festival, have experience at the festival and aren't a bore anymore. This is how to do a festival. And I think European festivals get it. Most European Festivals like Wacken and Hellfest are like a fine mix of Bloodstock and Download, picking a mix of larger bands like Metallica and Maiden as well as younger bands like Sabaton and Parkway Drive. And they keep it fresh by spacing them out more. It just seems to be the UK and US that go for the "lets pick Slipknot every 3 years" route. I don't want to sound like a hater, but i'm just tired of Download letting me down. It shouldn't be this hard to pick 3 experience but also fresh bands each year. Hellfest recently anounced their headliners. KORN (same as Download and the only download headliner I consider a win.) MUSE (my favourite none metal band who are great live whilst also being somewhat of a novelty for rock/ metal festivals), Scorpions (legendary band who are more than experienced and never headlined Download before) and Linkin Park (Done download several times but not for over 10 years and they are in a new era of the band making them exciting.) If this was Download, It would be an automatic weekend ticket for me. Mix of former experience Download headliners and exciting new bands. Not relying on Slipknot for the 50th time and not reliant on teenage girls wanting to see sleep token. And again, justice for the 90's & 00's bands. Come on Download. Give Disturbed, Sabaton, Alter Bridge, Nightwish, BFMV, Deftones, ADTR, Trivium, Dream Theatre, Lamb of God, Killswitch Engage, Limp Bizkit, Shinedown, Black Stone Cherry, Halestorm, FFDP, Machine Head, Gojira, Amon Amarth, Ghost and Volbeat a shot
I'll be honest, I don't know many newer bands that could headline these big festivals, but that's more because I've just been kind of moving away from metal in recent times. I don't doubt there are some great new artists out there that could really shine at these festivals and stuff, I've just been busy expanding my tastes into other genres. Still, I'll be sure to listen to any I see recommended around here!
I missed the chance to see Jon when he was here last time with JO'sP, I did see TSO, I will do a lot to be at any possible tour. Please let them come to .eu!
I knew it... I knew that guy Finn was a massive poser. I watched a video of his once and as a metalhead of 40 years, I (respectfully) disagreed with him. After reading his reply, I knew immediately he had absolutely no idea what he was talking about. Never went back. Vlad on the other hand is the real deal, much love man.
I've seen that interview, and from what it seems, Mckenty was having to delve into bands like SOAD, various rap/rap-adjacent microcutures and modern bands like Sleep Token when he had no interest at all in those kinds of things. They are quite a difference from the bands he's got tattoos of, yet everytime he tried to do something about a project he liked it went nowhere and he found himself navigating a flame war started by one of the videos he phoned in. After awhile he figured it was a deadend, he's got the tastes of a 40-something Hardcore guy whose basically left with the choice of condensing current topics and hoping they work, or trying to make use of his experience in Marketing and Advertisement in a more direct capacity.
Finn played it off great as he talked about going to Hardcore shows in his youth and absolutely loving so and so bands, while even telling stories from those days. So either he really did do that then lost his passion for it as he got older is one thing, but if he made all that stuff up he is a true piece of work. I would like to try and give him the benefit of doubt on my first comment. But I really couldn't tell you now. If he is that much of a poser, he wouldn't care what his fans think anyways.
Metallica has sold more records and is more widely known among non-metal fans. I think that is what is meant by bigger. Iron Maiden has been more consistent in the quality of their music. Both bands, when they're at their best, are absolutely amazing, though
Man, you know how much I love Iron Maiden, but simply in terms of a scale, noone can come close to Metallica... albums sold and mainstream recognition wise of course :) That doesn't mean they are better than Iron Maiden or Judas Priest, just financially more profitable
Exactly that you both said roughly how it is! Mainstream recognition and albums sold. Financially and mainstream success then yes. They are! But I am not sure if being the best Heavy metal Band means to be the most mainstream, not in my opinion at least. Don't get me wrong, they are a huge band and I like them a lot, and amazing playing live. But 11 studio albums on 40+ years, from which 5 are Top, 2 different but pretty good in my opinion (load & reload) and 4 that are below mediocre. While you get Maiden with 17, majority are amazing apart from 3-4 that I would personally say are Load-Reload level. Nothing below standard, and they are at their 70s still rocking in Arenas globally, and putting out good music. Well yeh, perhaps Maiden don't have a Nothing Else Matters, Unforgiven or Master of Puppets (thanks to Stranger Things) get Miley Cyrus (sorry took it too far, but is true) fans to buy their album or come to the gig, but their merchandise or just to be the cool kid in the block. I don't think it's what best metal Band should mean. I believe Metalheads we put actual music more in the equation than their Net Worth and the mainstream brand created.
I called out Finn Mckenty as a hack years ago after watching a couple of episodes. You could tell he was full of crap as he rattled off band name after band name, as if he has been on the front line of every musical trend to come along since 1950. Good riddance!
AS a lifelong metal head since 85, I wouldn't say metal is dead, but it's on the death bed. The journey has about reached its end. You cant get any heavier, nothing new , fresh or original is on the horizon , at least that is gonna capture mass appeal. Plus not near as many young folk care about rock or metal, so where does that leave us? I don't want to be grim, but am I wrong?
While it may bin a lurch, there are far more sub-genres in metal doing interesting things than when I first approached the genre in the late 1980s/early 1990s. You have slam, you have djent, you have some of the more interesting avant-garde acts like Antigama and progressive metal groups like Gorod making good material. A lot of the legacy acts are beyond stale though (prime example being Morbid Angel.)
I like you, bud... & I agree on your take about Metallica being sincere in why they did the benefit. But, for the love of everything good... could you please not continually play one of their worst, most annoying, non-Metallica like songs? They have so many great & good ones to choose from. It makes it very difficult to fight through your video, & I want to watch it all. No disrespect. It's just VERY difficult for fans from back in the day to not smash our screens into little bits having it come back again & again when we thought our suffering was already over. It hurts our soul to dwell on what they decided to change into before they decided to go back to their roots. ✌🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽
Slipknot were the hacks us Iron Maiden fans called them back in 1999. We saw right through them then and they should have been chased out of the scene.
I remember reading that one of the guys in Slayer was into Slipknot. I heard Slipknot and shook my head. I was like, why would anyone from Slayer like this generic noise?
"MGK Stan"... Was his great-grandpa the one born in '84? Cause that's very much a Millennial thing to say. Let me be ultra cool, too 👀 Go touch grass, bruh... & enjoy your MGK Playlist while you're at it. 👍🏽🤣🤣
Metallica has all the money in the world, why do they need to raise anything? Why not give from their own fortune? Why do they need to beg the fans for money?
I heard nothing about begging. I heard that the band played a concert for charity and held an auction of memorabilia for charity. That's hardly begging.

I hope I get to see the day where bands like Orbit Culture or Defects get to headline festivals. Awesome music I just can't seem to get tired of.
Orbit Culture are amazing
The album that I thought was the best of 2024 wasn't listed in your poll so I figure I would put it here: Nasty Savage 'Jeopardy Room'.
Merry Christmas to all Metalheads 🤘🏻🎄🎅🏻🇸🇪🤘🏻

For me Sleep Token are like Babymetal,a novelty/comedy act for the under 14s.
Sleep Token is insanely talented.
@@F26_RAIDER It`s ok,you will grow out of them.
@@MichaelRowe-cv3oq right, because you’re the shining example of maturity 😂
Burning Witches can certainly headline festivals.

Only one disagreement mate, Iron Maiden is the biggest Metal Band of all time!

Havok could have headlined... before they lost Reece and Webber.
10:34 I agree with clown on this one, then again, I’m an old man so I can’t be trusted to not be partisan 😂

No one believes Finn. He burned out and got bitter.
And he reached his financial goals...
I would argue that Slipknot are a horrible band who are headlining festivals in the present. 🤭 Proper old man yelling at cloud stuff.

I don’t wanna raise money the way they did though. They deserve all the hate they get in fact Metallica needs to get MORE hate!!!
