I'm so fucking tired of all the new phones getting rid of the headphone jack. You have to either get a new model without it, or buy an older model and get no more software updates.
I like the color and the camera design, they look similar to S23 series which is an interesting take but also I feel like A54 specifically is definitely not worth it since they put Exynos, no charger and thicker bezels hence less screen. I was hoping they would fix their mistakes after releasing A53 which gets beaten by A52s easily, but it only got more expensive and still kinda disappointing. I'm still excited for other major upgrades next year so I think I'm skipping. Gonna wait an extra year and hope for gen 3 snapdragon in all of their phones for 2024.

Those bezels are huge, even for a midranger. Actually feels like a cost cutting measure by Samsung. Doesn't really feel like much of an upgrade (if att all) from the A52s.
Currently, Vietnam is selling A54 5G with the price after deducting all incentives at about 7.490,000 VND ($320) (128GB). This is a very good price compared to Redmi Note 12 Pro 5G
Disappointed in the fact that the 2 generation old a52s is on par with this device. For the premium samsung is charging it should be atleast 1.5-2 times more capable. For 450 dollars you might as well find an s21 fe in the refurbished market.
I bought a Samsung A53 5G on Amazon Prime day last year for £249. Despite reviewers not liking it my A53 is an almost perfect phone. The only downside is a slightly slower CPU than Chinese phones at the same price point. Now with the A54 the CPU is 40% faster which makes the A54 a perfect phone. I get 5 years of security updates with means that the cost per year of a Samsung A53 or A54 phone is much less than any Chinese phone because no Chinese phone gets more than 2 years of security updates.
Hey man do you think 5G is worth it? Im still stuck on 4G using a Samsung S9 and been meaning to upgrade to a new phone and most of them use 5G. So should I start using 5G too?
It really depends on how much downloading you do and where in the U.K you are. In my experience, 5G can be ridiculously fast if the conditions are right but coverage is still a bit of a sore point. I don't think its that important, 5G didn't come into consideration when I bought my current handset but it was nice to have it there either way. If your S9 is still going strong and your not struggling with anything ( I bet the battery isn't looking too good by now! ) then just carry on, I wouldn't switch phones just for the sake of 5G.
@@tomroberts5805 Thanks a lot for your detailed response. Yeah im really struggling with the battery right now and I cant imagine what 5000mAh is gonna be like 😭 Ill hold off of 5G for now it seems and see how I get on. @@a_embleton I've done a fair amount of phone repair, mostly battery replacement. It's such a worthwhile skill to have if you don't upgrade your phone very often. Problem with Samsung's is the batteries and rear glass panels are literally welded in place, they are always the hardest phones I've had to work on because of this. But the cost is so low and the results are so worthwhile that it's a no brainer for me. I've always helped out work friends with their 400 year old iphones they refuse to give up on by replacing the battery for them.
Had the A53 and it lasted about 3 months before I couldn’t take it anymore. Could have been because it had so much Metro bloatware but still ebay made it better for me.
I think that ironed out the lag with the A53 after several software updates so it was a decent phone in the end. Going quite cheap on Amazon currently.
Thinking of getting this over the Oneplus 11for the price difference. Is this phone the next down grade from a the S23? (I try not to spend more than $500 on a phone.)
Pretty sad they've released a phone that looks like it only just has the same performance now as a 2 year old phone lol. A52s has a better processor and better looking front screen
Love your reviews! I've just signed up for an A54 5g on contract with Sky after being bitterly disappointed with my A13 after only 6 months - it's basic at best! I'm a shit photographer so was bitterly disappointed that it didn't have the object eraser option nor the night mode and all the other assistance that shit photographers need. So my question is......does this have object eraser in the photo editor? Please say yes! My phone is filled with cute daschund puppy photos with so much crap in the background that I'd prefer wasn't there quite frankly - bit like my ex! 😊
im considering buying the A54 next year, and it seems like an overall good phone, but the only thing thats slighly putting me off is the processor. All the reviews ive seen have all mentioned lag or stuttering. I currently own an A50 and its been great, it hardly ever lags, even after 4 years of owning it. I use it everyday mainly just for daily tasks, using instagram, pinterest, taking photos quite alot, and the occasional casual game, and no lag or stuttering. The battery is pretty decent and lasts me all day, considering its only 4000. Ive only ever had mid-range phones, as the S series is just too expensive, and i dont need all the features it comes with. I also dont want to get a phone thats any older then last year. I only like samsung phones and wouldn't want to consider a pixel or an iphone, as i just like samsungs ui too much I need to know that the A54 will preform even better then my A50 which is already good with no lag, as i dont want to upgrade to a phone that occasionally lags when my 4 year old A50 doesn't even really lag.
I am not sure if you have made a decision yet, but I have had a A52S for a few years but today my A54 is being delivered, so I guess I will be comparing it to the A52S as well as my stolen S23 (yes someone stole my S23 a few months back) and wifes S20 FE 5G (the one with the snapdragon 865). I will come back after a day with it and update on the performance and everything. I will also make sure everything is up to date.
So i signed a contract for an A34 5g a few weeks ago, but my provider delivered an A54 5g today instead for some reason. I'll take it, but it's gonna be real painful if they surprise me with a higher bill than what i signed for.
Little help here please. This or a xiaomi 12 lite. Which should i go for? My main worry with the Samsung is the exynos chipset and how it throttles or performs over time cause i use my phones for long. At least 3years. I wouldn't want it lagging on me. I also don't game much on my mobile but once in a while i play games like cod.
Depends. If you're looking for a more streamlined experience, longer software support and better cameras I would suggest the A54. If you're looking for faster charging and don't really care much about the software updates and camera performance you could go for the Xiaomi. The performance of both phones should be somewhat similar so I wouldn't personally worry about it that much. Hope this helps, cheers :)
It depends on what you need. The Xiaomi 12 Lite's big advantage is the lightweight design (only 173 grams vs 202 grams of A54) and much cheaper price (from where I am, at least). Not sure how important for you is the lightweight design, but for me, almost 30 grams of difference in weight is very noticeable for a device that you always hold and carry with you. Other than that, the A54 takes the win.
@@codrinmarian9327 thanks a lot. Yes it helps. Not too bothered about updates but i do care about the cameras, the selfie camera to be specific. I'm so fucking tired of all the new phones getting rid of the headphone jack. You have to either get a new model without it, or buy an older model and get no more software updates.
How are you doing, folks?
Has the vibration motor been changed?
Just got the a54 for 250 bucks, traded in my a13 5g for 200. It was such a good deal I couldn't skip it.
Gonna wait an extra year and hope for gen 3 snapdragon in all of their phones for 2024.
lol why don't you get the S23? cause clearly you talkin flagship stuff
The screen is just fine and the chipset is no issue. I don't get all these people going on about this. What do you do to need the Snapdragon chipset?

Is this the same guy from intheblues?
What about fingerprint unlock ?
What model has the better camera, A53 or A54?
A54

Hey man do you think 5G is worth it? Im still stuck on 4G using a Samsung S9 and been meaning to upgrade to a new phone and most of them use 5G. So should I start using 5G too?
Also check with your service provider, some still don't support 5G!
If you're not a gamer you probably won't notice much difference. 5G is still patchy or non-existent in many areas as well as harder on your battery.

I only like samsung phones and wouldn't want to consider a pixel or an iphone, as i just like samsungs ui too much
I need to know that the A54 will preform even better then my A50 which is already good with no lag, as i dont want to upgrade to a phone that occasionally lags when my 4 year old A50 doesn't even really lag.

My priorities are connectivity, cameras, display, battery life. In that order.
And if it matters the Samsung is about $45 more expensive than the Xiaomi for the same memory size. Wanted to know if its worth spending the extra money for it.
@@jiezel91 thanks for this. Yh, the xiaomi is also cheaper where i am by about 45 dollars. Weight isn't really much of a deciding factor for me, I've used heavy phones with no issues. My priorities are connectivity, cameras, display and battery life in that order.

This phone is great but is it actually any better than the Samsung s21 Fe sure it has one more year worth of Android updates but with the s21 Fe you get a better processor with the snapdragon 888 you get the same 5g and 120hz refresh rate but the bezels on the a54 are hideous they make me not want to buy the phone most mid range phones have slim bezels now days I'd be fine with the slim bezels and a tiny chin like the s21 Fe but these bezels are horrendous
Samsung S21 fe currently selling for £549.
The bezels aren't that bad. And you have micro SD expansion which is essential for me. Good midrange blower
It’s better battery life, price and software support.
Y r those android updates such a big deal to u people
it shouldn't even be a comparison, you cant even compare this to a S10e lol
Got a issue with my A54 5G I think. So if you head into settings then scroll down and select apps then search for voice wake up ( Bixby feature) then click on it and scroll down to where it shows you battery , mobile data , storage. By the battery section it shows voice wake is using 32% Since the last fully charge is this normal or am I just a idiot cause I swear I should be getting more battery out of this device
I've switched all of that off. Forced stop a load of apps to get the most out of my battery, I never use voice assistants anyway.
(This is on my A53 by the way)
Have you try Meizhu which we call it the son of Sumsung, that latest phone? Looks pretty nice and got a snap dragon flagship chip inside.
Should I buy this to upgrade from my s10 ? Or would it be a down grade?
No need to upgrade unless you want the software updates. S10 has better graphics hence it will have smoother gaming performance.
Should I wait for Pixel 7a
This phone's a really good one and with the one ui 6.1 its almost as good as the A55 plus owning both the battery life on the A54 is better than the A55 despite what critics say
