    Excellent Explanation! These principles affect EVERY field: satellite comms, or encoding symbols in magnetic storage mediums like HDDs, = "inter symbol interference"; Medical tests = you covered it; statistics = "inference testing"; Microscopy and remote sensing = spectral resolution (rayleigh criterion).....everywhere in science!

      Excuse me, when there is no overlap between the two curves, The ROC should be 100%, not 90%.

      Yes, when there is no overlap and the two curves are perfectly separated, the AUC is 100%. I guess the first ROC (at 7:22) has implicit extending curves that are not drawn.

      Actually the distribution function doesn't terminate within that separation line....it goes asymptote to the probability axis causing little overlapping

    Hi, I am confused about the cutoff point for most of the true positives, the highest positive predictive value, the lowest negative predictive value and the highest specificity on graph. At what point, I get most of the true positives and at what point I get the highest specificity. I hope someone clarifies these. I would be much more appreciated.

    Is the shape or slope of the ROC curve an expression for the odds of having the disease ? For the last ROC curve that is a linear line, the probability of having a disease = the probability of not having it meaning the odds are 1 thus the line is linear, no?
