Mike called my Muncie buddy a couple times when we were chillin smokin. Back in ‘08. Cut to 6 months ago I saw Mike in Indy. Hey man hang on, you got time for a quick FaceTime with a mutual friend of ours? He goes SHOW ME FURST BEFORE YOU HIT THE GREEN BUTTON! Sees the name and instantly goes into clown mode. “Man gimme that phone! This gon be guhd watch this.” Then starts goin 😁 into the camera. Soon as 4tay picked up they just start howwwwwlin. He’s like Aw I thought you was gunna thank me for the block and you got me talkin to 4 tay ass instead 😄
I love this. I wish more influential people would do this for their childhood communities. Then help those community members purchase the homes or help renovate their home. Build recreational and educational locations in those areas. Show lost communities they are loved and together change can happen. So many thriving black communities from the 60s have declined, and no one is trying to help. Instead, gentrification happens and completely removes the history of these areas. Many blessings, Mike, and I hope your work resonates and spreads like wild fire. God is Good.
Indiana is a pretty messed up hard place to live. I learned about eminent domain in school, it was one of those things everyone basically zoned out in class. Then just before Covid they gave my landlord of 12 years 150% of her investment to evict all tenants and I watched my entire neighborhood get demolished one house at a time. Just don’t ever go to Muncie. Just do a search on how messed up it is. (Edit. Had a full time job, able to pay bills and was still forced to be homeless)
First time I ever interacted with mike he was callin my buddy 4tay. Dude shushed me an put him on speaker phone. Mike basically called him to get his mama number and I’m in the background howling like the moon had just been snuffed OUT! First time I met him in person I immediately FaceTimed the homie fortavious. Handed mike my phone that said CALLING 4tay- he saw the name, and he just looked at me like watch this 😁
All those houses they have on that block is probably cheaper than the house they have in LA, and taxes are probably cheaper too. Good Job Mike and wife. NY where I live, and LA will break you.
What a beautiful sentiment along with generational wealth for his kids.

Imagine if all the celebrities do this, like the black block will be a good thing to see
ORRR , the “black block” can simply STOP tearing the area down and build it up themselves like EVERY other race. Smh
