I did read they were a little drunk when they came up with the idea for a naked bicycle race and apparently before they returned the bikes they had to replace the seats.

Fat Bottomed Girls and Bicycle Race are both on the same album and the two songs reference each other.
Both tracks were released as a double "A" side single.

Yeah, they had to draw in underwear on the album cover because they actually did a nude photo shoot for it.

Thanks I adore all Queen! Your reactions crack me up. So genuine. This song usually was performed live with the song Fat Bottomed Girls which guitarist Brian May wrote because Freddie liked both girls and boys with a little junk in their trunk. Lol. Both fun songs.

Freddie saw the tour de france and said "let's make a song called bicycle race dear, and let put a bell solo in it."
Awesome! One idea behind the message of the song is about embracing nonconformity, to not to follow the pack or blindly do what everyone else is doing, just think for yourself, love who you love and live life the way you want! It champions individuality and is exactly what Queen was and still is! The idea for the bikes came from watching the tour de France, the naked part of course was all Freddie. In case you didn't catch it, the lines about not liking Star Wars or believing in Superman were mean't as a joke (Brian May clarified that on twitter). During the Jazz tour concerts, Freddie would ride on the shoulders of a big burly guy dressed as either Superman or Darth Vader during the finale singing We will rock you. Also, Brian May is of course a huge Star Wars scifi fan!

Yeah, they held a naked bicycle race to promote this album and the song fat bottom girls, which this song was referenced in when he yelled , "Get on your bikes and ride!"

In about 1993 or 4 My toddler daughter danced to this in baby pageants. She was then hooked on Queen.
