Friend, you partly titled your second intuitive watercolor “…from blah to yeah”. Well, on the last few uploads you’ve shown incredible maturity and talent and have gone “from yeah to Wow!!!”. You are talented and relentless in your pursuit of art zen. And we are all so lucky to witness and appreciate it all. Thank for your kindness.
Hi Jessie ❤️🤗 thank you so much for being here with me and for being so kind and supportive! It’s nice to be reminded of the journey I have traveled to get here 💕 I appreciate you 🙏🤗
It's all good! I'm glad to see so many people didn't feel my aversion to the black ☺️ and I appreciate having a chance to be exposed to different perspectives. It's helping me see it all in a different light! Thank you for making the time to share your perspective and kind words with me ❤️
Loved it. To often our play is judged, which takes the joy out of it. We get anxious that others will be critical of our relaxation and creativity. I would like to try this activity and other simple things to return to joyful fun. Thank you.😊
So true! I think this comes into play for me a lot when I'm thinking of posting my painting processes for all to see! And then, I'm reminded that I steal from my own joy when I worry too much what others will think. Relax and have fun has become my mantra and it helps a lot ☺️ Thank you for making the time to connect and share your wisdom and perspective ❤️
Oh Gabrielle, this turned out to be gorgeous! 🤩 I love all of the blues; I consider turquoise to be a blue 😊. Each little painting is just so beautiful! Of course the gold and green made every square even more sparkly delicious! 🌟😉 😍 I loved the similar painting you did, but I may love this one even more! 💙 I totally agree about the relaxing and losing track of time when painting, it's the best! 🎨🖌 Have a wonderful holiday weekend! I'm betting you will be somewhere enjoying the outdoors! Stay safe and well! Big hugs! 💖🤗
Hi Lori ❤️🤗 Well, I'm so glad I decided to post this video after all! It's funny how much I struggled with the black and then at the same time, I loved each of the little minis and I felt like they deserved a chance to be seen ☺️ I may very well be addicted to shimmer 😂 It makes me SO happy!!! 🥰 Thank you for your kind words and well wishes for the weekend! I hope you have a wonderful holiday weekend as well, sweet friend ❤️🤗
This turned out so cool. You have a great philosophy on keeping the creative process fun, simple, and not too serious. I struggle with that more than I'd like.
Hi Kelly ❤️🤗 Thank you so much! I think it can be especially challenging to not take the process so seriously when we are also hoping to create content other people will enjoy 😉 When I start to catch myself getting overly concerned with my process I now have a little voice inside my head that says relax and have fun! Everything just flows more easily from that point on ☺️
Blue! My favourite colour in all its shades! Thank you for another ‘brilliant’ video (…the English meaning skilled, excellent but also full of light and shining). I love the way that each mini painting has its own place in the creation..and deserves its own individual attention as much as an appreciation of the whole. It looks to me like a stained glass window with each frame looking through to a different imaginary location! I like to play with ideas and styles and have a box of small painting experiments that I sift through when I want inspiration. Because they are small I am happier to try different things and just see how they turn out. Have a beautiful week! 💙xx
Hi Bernice ❤️🤗 I'm so glad you enjoyed this one too! Blue is a color I often feel drawn to using in my paintings as I'm sure you can attest! ☺️ I love the idea of "cataloguing" little paintings like this one for future inspiration. Thank you for your kind words and thank you for making the time to connect with me 💕
Thank you so much ❤️☺️ How fun that we get to share in the energy of this beautiful place! I appreciate that you made the time to connect and watch my video 🤗
❤❤❤ (BTW blue is one of my favorite colors. I like to play around with copper metallics when I am painting - especially when using blues - it's just one of my favorite color combos, but I love how this gold pops as well. I have gold, I just need to use it more....and I need to get some of that iridescent green paint that you use. It is quite beautiful.) I love all of the different watercolor effects you used for each square/rectangle. This makes me think of swatching watercolors but obviously on another level...now I want to play around with my colors in this way. I think it would be lots of fun to create art like this as well as give me something to do on days when I am not feeling in the mood for art but still want to play around with colors - if you know what I mean.
Hi Angela ❤️🤗 I always say green is my favorite color, but blue is definitely a very close second because it makes it into most of my paintings ☺️ That iridescent interference green is beautiful indeed and just a heads up that Kremer Pigments also makes an interference color called Ultra Rutile Blue Pearl that is equally beautiful (and fast becoming one of my favs.) I totally get what you're saying about not always having the oomph to create - "swatching" is a great way to play with color, marks, etc without committing to something bigger. I have these days too and when I do, I like to explore in this way as well. Thank you so much for making the time to connect with me! Happy creating 🎨
Oh my Gabrielle you done it again. What an amazing piece of art. I like the black lines because it frames and draws your eyes to each little painting of its own beauty. It feels like I am looking out of small windows each with its own horizons seascapes and night sky. Really wonderful. Thank you.
Aw ❤️🤗 Thank you so much! I'm so glad you enjoyed it as much as you did and I'm going to look at my little minis from a different perspective moving forward ☺️
You have incorporated some great learning points / tips into your video. Love it!!!! This is building my foundation to unleash my own creativity. Thank you for sharing your artistic talent with us
Absolutely stunning 😊 Ice blue is my favorite color and your project this week has brought me joy and fueled my creative appetite. I’m very new to watercolors and intuitive art and have been bingeing your channel since I joined a few days ago. Thank you for sharing and have a wonderful week 😁
I have a big smile on my face Kim! And you had something to do with that so thank you ❤️🤗 I'm so glad you're enjoying my channel and I appreciate you choosing to spend time with me 💕
Bravo my Friend I love blue and I really love what you have done with it.lovely lovely lovey💙💙💙💙I’ll try to email . I did last week but it must of not gone through 🥰♥️
Hi Nancy ❤️🤗 Thank you so much for your kind words, as always! I did receive and reply to your email 😉 Maybe it went to your spam folder or junk mail. Sending lots of love your way ❤️🤗
@gabrielleannacormierart have you considered using the 3M painters washi tape for delicate surfaces for the borders? I pull off a length and stick it to my cutting board, aligning it with grid. Then cut the wide tape into strips with a ruler and blade. I use about 6mm strips for my A6 journal. For your grid lay down the long strips first, then the short strips , using scissors to trim the end if needed.
I feel no disrespect and appreciate your perspective on the black ☺️😉 Thank you for your kind words! ❤️ I love looking at each little mini and the more I look at the whole, the more I am liking the black too!
Thank you so much ❤️ I use a UV protectant fixative spray. I've seen other people use wax and even matte medium. Since watercolor is not indelible, I think it might be wise to apply a light coat of a fixative before applying something that needs to be rubbed in. But, I've never used wax or matte medium for this purpose so I can't say for sure. The fixative seems to work well however. Many artists prefer to not put anything over their watercolor paintings and frame their artwork in a frame with glass. I think it really depends on your own personal preferences 😉 I hope this helps!
Thank you for watching Nellie!! ❤️☺️ That's a great question and really I'm not sure it would. I have never tried it, but generally iridescent paints shine their brightest when the light catches them. I don't believe that could translate on a picture. But, I've never tried it so I can't say for sure. 🤷♀️
@@gabrielleannacormierart Thank you! I like making either 4x6 inch cards to be framed or a smaller size for a note card! Have a great Christmas and New Year!
@timh7246 0 seconds ago Beautiful. Gonna leave all the framing white, then cut each of the larger rectangles to make them greeting card front size & affix to card stock, then give to a friend whose fave color is blue so she can have a homemade set of greeting cards. I'll do my own version in each rectangle rather than replicate yours, but you've certainly provided a whole bunch of inspiration !!! ;-)
What a wonderful idea and what a kind friend you are 💝 I'm so happy you're feeling inspired and I'm so excited for you to surprise your friend with these little greeting cards ☺️ Thank you for making the time to connect with me and happy creating!! 🎨🤗
Usually, taping the paper down to a solid surface and not removing the tape until the paper is completely dry will help with this. When I have a little bit of buckling left after removing the tape, I can usually iron it out. (I place the painting upside down inside an old pillowcase and use my steam iron to get rid of the buckling. Then I stack books on top and let the painting sit for at least 24 hours. This works really well.) I hope this helps ☺️
Great idea! And in some cases I have done that (or used gesso). But, I wanted to try something different and I’m glad I did because now I know I’d probably prefer not to do it again 😂 Live and learn as they say! Thank you for your kind words and for making time to connect ❤️☺️
