This video was a God send. Thank you. I'm changing racks as you did but I went with a Z3 rack and things were shown so well in your video that when I got lost all I had to view your work and things all worked out great. One thing I did do, because my engine was in, was to get the old rack out and new rack in I loosened the engine mounts and lifted the engine an inch and the rack came right out and the new one went right in. You showing the power steering hoses and how you got them to fit was so very helpful. So thanks again!!
so, the two spacers required are for the steeeirn column to extend the reach so that the column can be inserted into the rack? am i right? are there any spacers required at the mounting points of the rack onto the subframe?
Hey did you cut that rubber fin piece on the top of the new rack spline? Cant seem to get mine far enough down gonna try and put it on the steering wheel side

Thanks! Im not sure how the 4 cyl compares to the 6 cyl but I know the 6 cyl oil pan interferes with the rack removal so you have to bend the bottom mounting tabs to be able to slide it out downwards instead of frontwards. I imagine the ujoint from the steering column to the rack might be a little tricky as well with everything in the way.

This is my first e30 and I didn't even drive it before the swap because it wasn't registered for the road but I can tell you the steering is very quick now especially at high way speeds.

I don't remember to be 100% honest but I want to say yes because the factory e30 oil lines bolted up fine. If the bolts were different, there would probably be issues

DAMN I thought u were going to drop the engine in with the rack studs reversed. Good catch that would of sucked in 10 years.
That would have been brutal! I had them from the top down just during the fitment of the rack so I did not have to bolt it down fully

No problem! I actually found it to be pretty straight forward. Routing and bending the lines was the trickiest part I think
