Yes you can also do that. In that case MSB is qc. So It doesn't matter.

mod 6 means no. of bits will be 3 and HENCE no of FLIP FLOPS used will be 3.
this will be a mod 7 counter as there are 7 different states. you taught wrong. i verified with gate smasher video.
