It depends on how often you use your weapon. If you check your weapon, there is a "Durability" indicator in there. It starts from 600, the more you use you weapon, the durability decreases until it reaches zero.
Nothing special in Skill Points distribution. I have 3 presets for Skills, one for Martyrs Reckoning Build, one for Shield Boomerang and then one for Grand Cross.

Optimum Master of Magic needs about 5k SP. But you can use Tyr Set for Shield Boomerang too.
