As a danish kindergarten teacher, I think that the section about Denmark is a little superficial. There was a lot of changing guidelines several times which mean a lot of confusion and stress. @@mortenreippuertknudsen3576 You cannot compare Denmark with London's densely populated communities and population. Also the UK is a more popular tourist destination than Denmark bringing in more foreign people tourist from places like China/Italy etc, which spread the virus into the population more quickly.
@@mrdemocracy7106 In March we had many, _many_ cases of the virus being spread from Danish tourists coming home, though. Danes have a higher median income than most UK citizens (if I remember right), so even if Denmark isn't as popular, we have more people coming home from abroad. This was especially true just when people started to realise this was a pandemic. When you see the charts for how the epidemic started in Denmark compared to the UK, they're very much alike. The difference is that the Danish government locked down as soon as they saw the situation going out of control and the UK government waited another week. Whether you can compare the two countries on opening meassures... Yeah, that's trickier.
Sweden: No lockdown, no restriction, GDP falls by 7%. Danmark: Lockdown, restrictions, GDP falls by 7%. UK: Initially like Sweden but later like else countries, GDP falls by 20%. well.....

Wouldn’t be possible here, the classrooms are too small and always packed! Split the classes would help, we‘ve done it for 6 weeks, but one half had to stay at home when the other half was at school.
Christina Marsh From my experience, yes, because they feel safe. Young people seldom die and they don’t notice if they give the virus to someone else. There haven’t been that many deaths in my country, so now people start acting like it’s no big deal. I wish, everyone would keep on wearing masks and avoid traveling until we have a vaccine.
The key is the early testing and isolation ... if this is done, a lot of additional strictures can be relaxed. Also, I'd strongly recommend not allowing for free travel to / from Sweden. If you can't enforce 14 day quarantines, you will have the experience the Bahamas did, where they opened to the US and ended up with an outbreak that was 6x worse than their original set of infections and a whole new round of lock downs.
For the ppl praising the kid, I'm from Denmark and yes, everyone speaks English here but not that well at that age. Judging from his appearance and his good english accent, he's probably mixed with another nationality, it's not uncommon here.
That's very interesting, could it perhaps be due to the relative income of Greeks making it less likely for them to leave the country, which would lower the chance of getting infected? Do you know anything about the Greek government's response to the pandemic?
@@theposhdinosaur7276 Could it be because they took better and faster measures and the people showed enough discipline to uphold them? Why would your first assumption be so naive and derogatory to Greece?
Note that Denmark now recommend wearing face masks in public transit during peak hours since the numbers are rising again... and areas with high numbers have stricter rules: face masks are a requirement and the start of school has been put off or made digital.
Mate, speak for yourself, the only reason you could act like such a stupid idiot is because the majority of the country is serious about a virus that may cost lives, your mindset is that of a child and you represent the very small minority that should find another country to ruin, maybe move to America, it seems like that would fit your personality a bit better.

It requires an ethic, a trust and total absence of corruption in all levels of society that you can only find in the nordic countries - and apparently New Zealand.

Why is this reporter so passively aggressive towards us in Denmark.. He just makes it sound like he hates that our death count is so low XD
And underlining all the "for now's"
How is it passive aggressive? It's a perfectly valid worry that we might get punch drunk on our success
Because there is more death where he came from and probably wants his neighbours to share the misery

Amazing to be Danish and live in Denmark where we control the situation.
We don't go crazy, we locked down fast, and we open up slowly to control the situation the best way possible
The best thing about it is that you're close to Sweden. The last free western country.

Every danish child, teacher and parent in this spoke a better English than the foreign minister 🤦🏼♂️ embarrassing

that child has english speaking parents. that teacher is either from England or has lived there - nobody speaks that well (with perfect accent)
@@Slyngbom Ever since i was 6 years Old i could speak basic english and at around 8-9 years Old i was fluent
I understand why...but the idea of children losing out on an education I find heartbreaking.
The danish school system functions well. So it’s really not an huge deal over here. For many children it has been a nice stress relief actually
I'm teaching adults and my students and I really quickly found a new way to teach and learn with distance. Microsoft Teams is an excellent tool combined with Plumbago as a replacement for a black board.
BTW. What do you consider best or worse. Missing out on learning or missing out on the rest of ones (could also be relatives) life?
Im a dane and i feel proud when i hear positive words about Denmark.
As a danish kindergarten teacher, I think that the section about Denmark is a little superficial. There was a lot of changing guidelines several times which mean a lot of confusion and stress. Yes, it was good that the number of covid19 infected was so low that schools and kindergartens could be held open (with certain guidelines upheld) but it wasn't as much sunshine and rainbow as they make it up to.

My own kid, who has had English for 5 years speak just as well - but with a thick Danish accent.
f0CUS He doesn’t need to have parents in the UK, just because he can speak fluent English. He most likely played a lot of video games, such as Minecraft, which made him really good at speaking English. That’s how A LOT of people learn it; by playing video games.
@@etyndigtland True, but kids in Denmark still learn from a young age. 40 years ago, I learned from fifth grade. Today I believe they start at around "null" grade - the year before real school.

1:37 why is she talking like someone who comes from either Scotland or Ireland?

Sometimes people learn English from people from those places and take on the accent

Here in Copenhagen no one wears masks any longer. That all stopped about a month ago.
meanwhile in the U.S. we basically screwed ourselves over. LOL I mean by opening when cases were still going up and pretending everything was ok we extended our misery. Plus we have this attitude that masks infringe our rights. My gut tells me we will see school open then close two weeks later.
Did you wear masks in the first place? I can imagine only foreigners doing that, since our authorities didnt recommend it.
We have never worn masks.
i never saw anyone wear masks lol only asians
Right when he asks the boy how they play without touching each other a girl does a cartwheel and runs up and grabs her friend🤨🙄
Exactly, I noticed that too.
They missed a detail. There are "play groups". Within those, the children can play like normal. But there are no physical contact between members of two different groups
The kids are split up in play groups, because it's hard to keep children apart, and this way, if somebody gets corona, they have minimal contact with other people, and it is easier to track who the smitten has been in contact with
Double the number of teachers...brilliant. Imagine actually valuing education and teachers as a society. Meanwhile my friends and I are getting ready to back to rooms with 35-41 students in a small classroom
I am a Dane as well as an essential worker... I’m also alone with my now 8 year old daughter.. we live in a small tourist town, and I am 100% sure of sending my daughter to school, they wash hands first thing, then sit down if going outside she(her choice) has her hand sanitizer in her pocket, and one set for class with lotion and wet wipes... parents are not allowed inside the school, we follow them to their classrooms fire escape doors, and from 2. Grade(8years and up) we have to say our goodbyes at the “kiss’n’drive” zone...
it works...
My child is someone different her mood and mind has gone so down hill it’s scaring me she missed the last year in her primary school so now being chucked right in to secondary school, but I don’t understand how school will work when out pubs and cinema still closed.
That’s awful with your girl I really hope she gets better:)) but I think they’ve opened schools before everything else so that we could get as much learning as possible in before moving on to the next grade and because it’s easier to make sure people are following the rules, also cinemas have opened but bars opened for a short while until they figured out that people were not social distancing and that’s where they think the increase in infections care from

You must remember that the population in Denmark and in schools is much less densily populated than the UK and the coronavirus was no where near as bad.You cannot compare.
Denmark is MORE densely populated that the UK - but distribution óf space to live is more equally distributed (just like income and wealth)
mr democracy The UK has twice as many cases and deaths per 1 mil people
well, the virus was not bad in denmark, because we did a good job stopping it from the start... and the population per square mile is pretty much the same
@@mortenreippuertknudsen3576 You cannot compare Denmark with London's densely populated communities and population.
How is now in September 2020?

Danmark: Lockdown, restrictions, GDP falls by 7%.

Wouldn’t be possible here, the classrooms are too small and always packed! Split the classes would help, we‘ve done it for 6 weeks, but one half had to stay at home when the other half was at school.
What grade do you teach? Do you feel there is a greater risk with high school students?
Christina Marsh From my experience, yes, because they feel safe. Young people seldom die and they don’t notice if they give the virus to someone else. There haven’t been that many deaths in my country, so now people start acting like it’s no big deal. I wish, everyone would keep on wearing masks and avoid traveling until we have a vaccine.
Christina Marsh PS I teach 10-17 years-old
The key is the early testing and isolation ... if this is done, a lot of additional strictures can be relaxed.
3 months later... how did this turn out?
Alot of danes speak (almost) fluent english really early since they grow up watching english youtube or other sorts of media

Talking about Denmark's response (600 deaths) when Greece which is almost double in population has had 200 deaths.
That's very interesting, could it perhaps be due to the relative income of Greeks making it less likely for them to leave the country, which would lower the chance of getting infected? Do you know anything about the Greek government's response to the pandemic?
