I hated this day. I was so sad that Tristan was leaving the show. I started watching because of Robert and Holly. I didn’t watch the show again full time until Tristan came back in 2006.
It sucked that we all waited years for Holly's return to GH, and as soon as she returns Robert leaves the show. It didn't leave much for Holly to do and her return would end up being very disappointing.
The love between Robert and Robin :(. I feel this scene was quite genuine because Tristan was leaving. I have no doubt the affection he showed Kimberly here was from his heart and not just playing Robert.
It's 2024. I hear Holly is coming back again. Let's hope we get the happy ending that we have waited so long for. He never loved Anna like he loved Holly. He and Holly belong together. We've all seen that for decades. Will they finally see it, too?
Wow. Robert acted as though it was his 'duty' to go 'try' and find Anna, mainly because of Robin. Between the lines, the flavor of this scene seemed to be that, until he brought Anna back home, safe and sound, he and Holly would have to be on hold....meaning he WANTED to pursue a reconciliation. I always suspected that Holly was the real love of Robert's life. This scene clinched it as far as I am concerned.
This is exactly how I interpreted this scene. He gave reasons why he had to go after Anna, and they all sounded like obligations. Not once did he mention love. It seemed like it was all about Robin. The relationship with him and Holly was left open!
Even way back when Anna first arrived, though Robert did have some conflicted feelings about the whole Anna coming back into his life thing, he chose Holly. After Anna, he never thought he would find love like that, then his best friend 'died', and he married his pregnant girlfriend out of obligation and because he is a good guy. Then...BAM!!!! Holly caught him by COMPLETE SURPRISE!! He wasn't looking to find love...but Holly permeated his heart like no other. He thought Holly was the perfect woman. Holly captured him. Robert Scorpio adored Holly Sutton/Scorpio. There was no getting her out of his heart.
Yes, he adored Holly, and her death destroyed him. He loved being married to her. He tried to emulate their relationship by getting involved with other women, but these relationships did not work. Therefore, due to Robin wanting him with Anna, he settled.
The writers messed up holly and Robert so bad. The reason she gave for not coming back was so stupid. Holly was the love of his life. They could have made her return with amnesia or she was protecting Robert some how. But to say she didn't return because he moved on. Give me a break. Too bad Tristian and Finola weren't staying at this time in 1992. He could have been a great story having the triangle again.
The writers didn't explain the underlying reason Holly stayed away. In 1983 she had to deal with Luke returning from being presumed dead. She did not want to put Robert though that because of the length of time that had passed. She was told he was happy and that is what was important to her. In 1983 he was willing to give her up if that was what she wanted . They loved each other that much.
I do wonder if Tristan Rogers hadn't left GH back in 1992 the show would explored more about why Holly stayed away and maybe she was doing it to protect Robert in some way.Plus having Anna off screen back then could have been an interesting roadblock to Robert and Holly reuniting because Robert maty have known he couldn't be happy with Holly while Anna was in danger or whatever.Plus the show could still have killed Anna or have her be presumed dead.
Only people living in the world of fantasy thinks Robert is going to find Anna, bring her back, and then say "bye Anna, bye Robin, I'm going back to Holly, because I prefer a con artist and an unindustrious woman, the liar that faked her death". If he loved Holly so much why didn't he kiss her, afterall Anna was missing? Just as he kissed Anna at the airport when he was going back to Australia after the Asian quarters story. Some people refuse to accept the fact that after Robin was rude to Holly, she explained why she did that and Robert assured Robin that Holly cannot take him away from them and that he was going to find Anna and the family will be together again. When Robert said "I don't know when I'll get the chance to say this again" My interpretation is he wanted Holly to advise herself and not wait for him because he thought he would find His wife Anna and bring the family intact again. He reiterated to Holly that Anna is a large part of his life as well as the mother of his child. He was just being polite to Holly because he had to find a way to let her know he's committed to his family.
Only a delusional human being living in a fantasy world would believe a one-time con artist who returned the money in a con can compare to a double agent...a traitor to her country. This makes no sense. Anyone could see the way Robert looked at Holly how he felt about her. He gave her the reasons that he was going after Skanna, and love was never one of them. Why would any man choose Anna over Holly? Yes, Anna was a large part of his life...the mother of his child. Some choose to forget how many times Robert threw up to Anna's face how she was a traitor. He talked to her like she was a piece of garbage. He never showed Holly nothing but love, and placed her on a pedestal. Robert had years to get with Anna, an he never did. Why? Because he did not love her, and Robin was no longer a child who wanted her parents together, and, last, not least, the guilt of leaving a pregnant Anna was over!
I think the reason the scenes between Emma and Tristan were so cold is because they had broken up in real life. It must've been extremely difficult for them to have to act together again. Also, Tristan was with another woman in real life who became his wife and mother of his children. I checked and of this writing they're still together after 30 years. I wish GH had not had him interacting with Emma again. He is clearly over her and has moved on with his life.

I think holly was the love of roberts life but being the nice guy he is fiding out he had a child with anna he believes he should be with the mother of his child for robins sake. Other then the wsb l never saw sparks between robert and anna like l seen with robert and holly. I think the only reason they broke them up is cause the actors were dating in real life and when they broke up it would be hard for them to work together again in a romantic setting.
@kbirdusa I wonder if it had to do with Tristan Rogers and any 'bad blood' between him and Emma Samms? He was a great actor, but his chemistry or not with other actors came through on whether he liked them or not. Could have influenced the way the scenes were played...
When they left in '85, they were still lovers. I think they just drifted apart because their career paths were going in opposite directions. I don't think there was any bad blood.

I always thought she was relatively well adjusted considering Holly died and came back, Duke died and came back, Anna and Robert died and came back. She had a very dark childhood!

Plus I heard his wife girlfriend at the time didn’t want them to be together. Think she was pregnant at the time. Or maybe she had just delivered Sara Jane. Will always be RnH. ❤❤

As much as I love Anna, this scene was terrible in Robert's coldness to Holly. That isn't Robert to me. He loved both women entirely.

I read the same interviews. In '92 when Emma returned, it was reported that Tristan would not do photo shoots with her in several soap magazines!
Sounds like Tristan was still bitter in '92. They are great friends now though & I think in 2006 when they were on GH together.
